A Wise Old Bird
Oh, old brown owl with your big round eyes
I wonder why they say you're wise.
Tell my why do you sleep all day
And wait till it's dark to hunt your prey?
Do you really know without a doubt
When small timid creatures venture out
So you're sure to catch when you arouse
A careless shrew or an unwary mouse
And when other hunters rise with the lark
There's less competition when it's dark,
But it's so strange to think that you
Don't have to learn the things that you do.
How can you be such a clever dick
When you don't read or write or do arithmetic?
Oh! old brown owl who sleep all day,
Are you really as wise as they say?
