Why Me? (Older Hiccup and Reader)

Chapter 37

Next Morning 

Your POV

I feel my eyes flutter open when I start to se a bit of daylight through the cave opening. I sit up and rub my eyes so I can get a clearer vision. When I do I look around to see that everything is still in place. I hear soft snores beside me and turn my head to see that Hiccup is still asleep. Then the memories of last night flooded into my mind as they played back to what happen before I went into a slumber. 

I kissed Hiccup on the cheek.

Wow, I feel proud and self conscious now. Proud that I pushed the boundary and scared that it was the wrong move. What if he doesn't feel the same way I do? What if he thought I was too pushy? The 'what if's' kept piling up until a big, wet tongue came out of no where and licked me on the side of the face. I turn my head to see (d/n) still laying down, but her head held high as she gives me 'calm down, everything will be okay' look and a smirk. 

"This is why your my best friend (d/n). You always know what to do when I'm stressed." I whisper while stroking her neck. She purrs in delight. While I keep stroking her neck, I hear her tail start to pat the ground, then a 

SMACK!

I turn my head to see that (d/n) had accidentally smack Toothless with her tail. Toothless jerked awake, jumping up 5 feet into the air. Since Hiccup's head was on Toothless's side, a groggy Hiccup was awake, but was unaware of what was happening. When he sat up rubbing the part of his head that hit the ground, Toothless fell on top of him causing the air to leave his body. 

"Toothless.......Can't.......Breathe...." Hiccup breathed out. Toothless noticed he was on top of his master and slowly got off. Hiccup took deep breathes before he spoke. 

"Now, why in the name of Thor was I jolted awake by my dragon, then having the air knocked right out  of me?" He asked turning to me. 

"Oh, I was stroking (d/n)'s neck. When she started to smack her tail against the ground, she must have hit Toothless by mistake in the face, causing him to jump 5 feet in the air, waking you up, then falling right on top of you." I say, barely holding in a laugh. Same goes for (d/n).

"(y/n), I see you hiding the laugh, go ahead and let it out." He said chuckling a bit and waving his hands around, which was motioning towards me.

I did what I was told and me and (d/n) let out our laughs. I could swore that I could feel tears in my eyes. After our fit of laughter, me and (d/n) calmed down. We decided to have our breakfast.

"Well, (y/n), we only have 1 week and a half left until the expedition is finally done. And I say, when we get back your house should be done has well." Hiccup says putting on his armor. I put my armor on while Hiccup was making breakfast.

"Yeah, we don't have that much time left of we. To be honest though, can't wait to get back to Berk. I miss an actually bed." I say giggling. 

"Yeah. Same here. Its getting colder and colder too." Hiccup states sitting beside me, full in armor.

"Yea. I'm starting to feel the freeze when I cover up. Even if (d/n) snuggles closer, I'm practically an icicle." I say.

"Well tonight lets start sleeping closer together, for you know, body heat." Hiccup states, doodling something in his journal.

"Okay, just no funny business Haddock." I point threateningly at him. 

"No worries m'lady, no funny business will happen, I am a man of class and self restraint." Hiccup says chuckling at my action. 

"Okay, I believe you. Well lets get this day of work out of the way. We still have a lot of work to do if we want to get finished a bit earlier than planned." I state getting up.

We feed our dragons, and head off to meet the workers. 

Today is going to be a long day, and I can feel it. 

But, I feel it will also be very special.

Okay, so I'm starting to feel better from my illness. YAY! Also, be prepared for a cute scene in the next chapter.
