Why Me? (Older Hiccup and Reader)

Chapter 83

Your POV

When I woke up, I heard two certain Night Furies playing around downstairs. I let my eyes flutter open, and feel a sudden coolness. As my vision became more clear, I see Hiccup isn't there beside me. I get up and wrap the fuzziest blanket he has, which was quite larger than I imagined. I wrapped it tightly around myself and started downstairs, letting the extra length of the drag behind me. 

When I reach the kitchen I see Hiccup cooking up a small breakfast for the both of us.

It appears he hasn't noticed me yet, so I walk up behind him and wrap my arms, along with the blanket, around his torso and hug him tightly. I could feel he jumped a little but, but calmed down when he realized it was me.

"You left me to freeze up there." I whined into his back.

"Wel, now you know how I feel m'lady. But don't worry wouldn't want you to get cold." He says. I could feel him chuckle. He turns around wrapping his arms around me as I accidentally  hug his torso to tight.

"Ow." Hiccup quietly calls out.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to squeeze you so tight." I say.

"Its, fine." He says. He kisses the top of my head and brings me closer to him.

"I better change though bandages after breakfast and after that we'll go get the gang and bring them up to speed sound good?" I ask him.

"Yup. But they already know. I sent some air mail this morning. They should have gotten it by now." He say.

I nod, as we eat breakfast. After that i change Hiccup's bandaging while getting teased by him. Don't think my face could get any redder.

After that, we got into our normal outfits, and went to find our pesky dragons.

"Are you sure your alright to be flying and doing this type of thing?" I ask him worriedly gesturing to his wound.

"Yes, (y/n). I'll be fine. If I can loose a leg, then a simple stab wound can't kill me." He says.

"Says the guy who was out for 2 days straight making me worried half to death." I say. Crossing my arms over my chest and glaring at him.

"And again, I'm sorry." He said.

I just huff and hug him. 

"It wasn't your fault, it was Dagur's. I'm just worried alright." I say giving him a peck on the cheek. 

"I don't think we don't stop making each other worry do we?" He chuckles.

"Apparently not. But all those worries show the other, they just care." I say. He grabs me by the waist and pulls me into his chest and lands a short passionate kiss on my lips. I hear the villagers awe in us and say how cute we are, etc. When he stopped he gave me his famous smirk and dragged me to the Dragon Academy. Basically the arena where we train new dragon riders, tame dragons, and teach about dragons. 

When we enter, I barely dodge a chicken coming straight for my face.

"Hey you get back here!" I hear Tuff, as he grabs the chicken. 

He walks back over and puts the chicken in a big cage, and walks over to fight with his sister.

"I'm still not used to some of the strange things happening here on Berk." I say.

"Trust me, you will." Hiccup whispers. When walk over to see our pesky dragons wrestle again.

They wrestle so much until one pins another. I think if you counted, they have a tie between them. 

As everyone is preparing for the flight, Eret comes in.

"Hey guys." He greets.

"Hey!" Everyone says in unison.

He walks over to Ruff and hugs her. I look away for their privacy, and pay attention more to my saddle bag.

"So here's the sketch, or now the so called, map to the 'Palace of Shadows' as I like to call it." Hiccup says.

I take it rom his hand and go over it. It appears to be a secret lever of some kind near the top of the tallest mountain in Berk. If we find the letter, it appears Jarkus said then that only two can go in along with their dragons. Then they'll be tested in different types of trials. 

Brawn, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Choice.

Hiccup said he'll be taking me in with him. The others will stay outside for when we come out. 

I hope we can pass the tests.

I look over at Hiccup who was playing with Toothless. I feel something nudge at my hand.

"Hey girl." I say to (d/n).

I crouch down and start to stroke her neck. She purrs with delight and I hug her by her neck.

"I'm scared (d/n)." I whisper.

"I know you can sense it. But I'm glad I'll be able to face the challenges with you, Hiccup, and Toothless. Look and please listen." I whisper. 

I look (d/n) dead in the eyes.

"If I break down in there, do something quick alright." I say. She nods her head and licks me a little on the side of the face.

"Thanks girl." I say closing my eyes and letting our heads touch.

'Mom, Dad. Please watch over us.'
