A lot of people loved the Archon of Hydro. But as soon as she left the court room, her personality changed completely. She went into the empty room of the Palais and cried her heart out.
Focalors— or rather, Furina, felt lonely and abandoned. She hated her weakness. Why was she so weak? Why couldn't she please everyone? She didn't want to look weak. She wanted people to love her unconditionally.
She was terrified of being left alone... And her fear about the prophecy about coming true— she just want at least one person to understand her completely while also not pretending to be someone else's.
Until one day, when The Sevens decided to meet on an urgent meeting, she goes there and met Morax— the Lord of Geo to where Furina sees a person hiding behind him.
She thought at first glance that it was a small child, then she realized that this is not a child. The goddess approached her and looked at her carefully. Furina was very curious as to why she decided to hide behind the Lord of Geo. Furina wanted to ask her why she was hiding, but she stopped, noticing that it was a yaksha.
"...."
Y/n only stayed silent while she let Morax do the talking towards the goddess which made Furina's eyes narrowed. She started to look at Morax, it was strange that he was talking so much.
'What was happening?' Furina continued to look at the Yaksha, waiting for her to tell the Archon who she was. But the Yaksha did not say anything. Her lips remained tightly shut. Why? It was so hard to figure out what those eyes were feeling.
Furina stayed quiet for a short time and carefully observed the yaksha, wondering what this mysterious lady wants to say. Then she spoke to Morax.
"So this is one of your yaksha?"
"...Yes, this is General Yingxue, one of the six yakshas who defends Liyue, but her fellow yakshas' call her Y/n." Morax answered Focalors that this is indeed one of his yaksha.
Furina only looked at her carefully, seeing that the yaksha have some elemental marks on her face, a unique tattoo near her shoulder and had no emotions written on her face. It was strange, though she carefully looked at her, trying to find any other details.
Furina observed the yaksha's clothes. She had a very interesting design. It was hard to remember and was quite unusual.
She also noticed something very special about Y/n— she was always silent and kept a distance from others. Her gaze was always straight forward, never showing any kind of expression. Furina was sure that this yaksha had something on her mind and she was ready to share all her stories with someone.
"Yingxue, thanks for accompanying me, you can go now." Said the Lord of Geo.
Y/n then nodded after and bows her head down.
"Of course, Rex Lapis."
Before Y/n was about to walk away, she glance at the Hydro Archon for a second before disappearing to thin air.
Furina had a slight feeling that she shouldn't have let the yaksha just go like that. For some reason, she wanted to talk to her. The Hydro archon thought that maybe the yaksha was willing to share at least some details about her. But no— the yaksha just ran away from her after taking a quick look at Furina which made the Archon disappointed.
Furina's attention then returned to Morax, and they continued to talk about the most important issues in Teyvat. But Furina did not forget about the yaksha, and she continued to think about her for the time being.
_____
After The Sevens were finished discussing about the current events in Liyue, Furina was about to head back to Fontaine, but was ambushed by a group of rifthounds and she was not much of a skilled fighter, therefore, after the ambush, she tried to escape this situation with all her might.
But the rifthounds surrounded her and got closer. The goddess of justice was scared. She knew she couldn't get away from it, and these rifthounds wouldn't leave her alone so easily.
Just about the rifthounds were about to attack her, she suddenly felt a frosty chill surrounding her and in a blink of an eye, Y/n was in front of her with her polearm unsheathed.
Her appearance in the middle of the rifthounds was like a miracle for her. Furina couldn't help but sigh in relief as she realized that there is someone who is coming to her rescue. The goddess of justice could not contain her surprise that it's a yaksha who is helping her at this moment and Furina was grateful to her.
Within just a minute, the rifthounds were eliminated as the yaksha slowly sheathe her weapon.
Furina was looking at the yaksha with a gentle look in her eyes. Something made her feel comfortable when she was standing by Furina's side. Her actions were so fast and decisive that she had dealt with the rifthounds in just a couple of moves. The Hydro archon did not expect such help from a yaksha, that's why when Y/n was about to leave, she immediately stopped her.
"W-wait..!"
..?
Y/n turned her attention towards her. The Hydro Archon's eyes widened, and she hesitated, thinking what to say to the yaksha next.
"Why did you save me..." Furina asked her, not yet ready to ask for such personal information. She wasn't sure about the fact that the yaksha was open to this kind of conversation.
"...You're still in the borders of Liyue, so as a yaksha, it is my duty to look out for any signs of dangers and eliminate those beasts when they decide to show up." Y/n explained.
Furina's eyes just widened, she had never thought for a second that the yaksha could explain it so simply. All this time, the Hydro Archon had thought that she was saving her without any specific purposes.
"So if I was attacked outside of your borders, you wouldn't have saved me, right? I mean, it's not like I couldn't handle myself or anything." Furina asked her, but she was sure that her assumption was right.
"Not likely." The yaksha answered bluntly. "Rex Lapis has instructed me to keep an eye on you in case danger rises. I don't why he made such a request to me on this matter, but alas, I couldn't refuse him."
Furina's eyes only widened even more, she was not expecting this information. It was strange indeed to her that the Lord of Geo would ask such a favor from one of his Yakshas. The goddess felt a little uncomfortable because she didn't want the yaksha to know that she needed protection.
"And how long are you planning to keep an eye on me?" Furina immediately felt a little uneasy, wondering if the yaksha would follow her everywhere now.
"Until you've reached Fontaine. The situation about the monsters, invading our land is currently increasing so perhaps Rex Lapis just wanted to be cautious."
Y/n then walks away before continuing her statement.
"Don't worry, I won't abandon my duty of protecting you, but instead, I'll be there watching you from the shadows since us yaksha are dangerous if there are people nearby due to our karmic dept."
The goddess heard the last sentences from the yaksha when she was about to disappear. The words that she was listening to really surprised Furina. Was that really right that the yaksha would be following her from the shadows? It really sounded a little funny to the Hydro Archon before she starts walking towards the path again.
