In Y/n's mind she thought there was a possibility of Furina accepting her confession, but once the goddess gave that bittersweet smile of hers, Y/n now understood that things were not in her favor.

"I-it's not that I don't love you, and if you're thinking that the reason I rejected you was because of your karmic dept, then you're wrong. I love seeing you smile, I love being each other's comfort, and I love the fact that you accept me for who I was. It's just that..."

Furina didn't continue her sentence as she stood up and was about to run away but Y/n hold her still by the wrist. The Archon's eyes looked sad upon having the yaksha hold her still.

"...I'm sorry." Furina muttered before removing Y/n's hand away and directly run towards the door.

"Furina, wait..!"

Although Furina didn't even bother looking back as she ran out the door.

Y/n opened the door and head outside to catch up with Furina but then saw Neuvillette standing in front of her, Y/n came to the conclusion that he was in fact aware of their situation. While Neuvillette didn't stop Y/n from passing which was a relief and made her somewhat thankful despite the disappointment she felt; Furina was probably already far away by now.

Y/n didn't know where the goddess might have run off to which made the yaksha frustrated as she clenched her fist, criticizing herself that perhaps confessing her feelings was a bad decision.

"Furina!" Y/n shouted.

But it was too late, her shout could already no longer reach the Archon. Furina was probably far enough by this point. The more Y/n cursed herself, the more she was filled with regret about this whole situation and what could have happened if she did it a better way. Maybe Furina wouldn't have rejected her then, or perhaps all possibilities led to this outcome.

Y/n was about to go and find her all over Fontaine, but before she could, the yaksha sensed Morax urgently calling out to her.

While the entire situation that just happened was still bothering her, Y/n had to leave Furina once she felt Morax's sudden urge to call her out. The yaksha didn't really want to leave Fontaine, much less the situation she was involved with, but her duty came first. So Y/n quickly followed Morax's call.

The yaksha eventually left Fontaine without saying goodbye, leaving a trace of pain in her heart knowing that Furina couldn't accept her feelings and thus making her confession a failure. Even though she sensed Morax urgently calling out to her, it never felt right to leave Furina that way.

With a heavy heart, Y/n returned to Liyue and directly meet with Morax and the other yakshas. Although the moment they saw Y/n, her eyes were cold and empty as Y/n's aloof demeanor became more somewhat hostile than before.

Since it was her duty to report back to Morax, she did so as usual. The cold and empty look on her eyes clearly displayed the current mood Y/n was in due to the circumstances of the situation with Furina. Her demeanor was apparent upon her return, which made the five other yakshas slightly uneasy by the aura around her, and Y/n's voice was completely different from before as well.

Y/n did not bother looking at any one of the yakshas when she entered the room, even Morax as she directly kneeled down on one knee behind him.

"Rex Lapis, I came here as soon as I have heard your call."

No more softness and kindness to be heard, instead it was filled with resentment and bitterness, which was definitely out of Y/n's usual character.

Rex Lapis took notice of her unusual and different demeanor. Y/n's aloof attitude was different from the usual her, which was also evident that was seeping from her words. Y/n's attitude was much more cold and serious than ever, something that even Morax felt.

When Morax announced the meeting, Y/n quickly shifted her focus away from the situation with Furina and directly paid full attention to what Morax and the five other yakshas are about to say.

Y/n's aloof and bitter attitude was indeed different from her usual self, and even the five other yakshas noticed this immediately, causing them to slightly lean backwards from her, thinking if there was an actual possibility if she would suddenly lash out on them.

"I wanted you five to go and clear all the filth that was consuming the area and as for you, Yingxue, you'll catch up with them later after I'm done talking to you." Morax said that made Y/n silent before nodding her head.

The other yakshas took a second to glance at Y/n.

"Cheer up, Y/n, we'll be there to listen to your problems once we're done with the mission."

The yakshas smiled encouragingly with a mix of sympathy before they left completely, leaving her and Morax left in the room.

Morax's eyes remained on her. There was still a hint of concern as he stared Y/n down, before he decided to ask his yaksha a question.

"Is something wrong? I may have the slightest idea of what's plaguing your mind right now, but I want to confirm it from you."

Y/n sighed before nodding again.

"...Let's just say that Furina and I haven't come in the best of terms as of late..."

Y/n could see Morax slightly frowning his eyebrows upon hearing her speak about Furina with an uncertain and unpleasant tone. There was also a hint of surprise upon Morax's face when he heard those words.

"What do you mean by that... What happened between you and Focalors? You know that despite her playful personality, she's quite serious when needed, especially when it comes to her duties as the Hydro Archon."

Y/n only nodded,"...Rex Lapis... If it's alright with you, I don't want to answer any of your questions regarding on this matter..."

When the yaksha did not want to disclose anything about the situation with Furina, Morax's face didn't flinch with frustration or disappointment. He could tell that the situation of Furina probably had a significant effect on Y/n's emotions right now, so he decided to let her handle it in her own way.

Although Morax would rather learn more about what happened between Y/n and Furina- he didn't press any further since he knows how much the situation is weighing his yaksha down on the inside.

"All right, but remember to stay vigilant during battle. You wouldn't want your emotions gets the better of you." Morax stated.

Without saying any further comments to avoid the situation with Furina, Y/n responded back in affirmation to Morax's request of staying vigilant during battle. Although the situation with Furina still bothered her, she didn't want that feeling to cloud her mind during the mission. So, Y/n put an effort to clear her mind off with any unwanted thoughts and focus only on the task at hand.
