I wake up in the hospital with a very worried Carlisle sitting next to the bed, but still holding my hand. I squeeze twice and he jerks his head up. When he sees me awake relief fills his face and he sits next to me.

"How are you feeling?" He asks.

"Fine." I rasp, reaching for the glass of water on my table.

I can tell he knows it's a lie but I don't care. I try to sit up and my head spins. "What did that thing do to me?" I ask.

He shakes his head and pulls me into his chest. "I don't know. I'm guessing that you're fighting the effects of some kind of poison but I can't be sure. All the doctors here did was give you fluids and a rabies shot."

I lean into his strong chest, wrapping my arms around him and pulling tight. Even with my head feeling like it was stuffed with cotton my limbs still seemed to be functional. "How long are they going to keep me here?" I ask into his shirt.

He pulls back and looks at me sternly. "You can't possibly think you're ready to go as you are? You could barely sit up without help!"

I frown, looking at him intently. "I'm fine. My head is a little funny, but I'm still functional. I may not be immortal but I know my limits and I'm not there yet."

He pulls pack even further and stands up. "You're not ready. You could have died and then what?" He starts pacing at the foot of my bed. "You could have been maimed or paralyzed or any number of awful things that I could do nothing to prevent. You can't just run into danger like that Charlie!"

"Run into danger my ass. You were there that was a calculated attack. we surrounded the camp and attacked. I did not run into danger, I carefully jumped into danger and got taken off guard by the dogs targeting me!" I can feel my face going red and my voice getting louder. I don't really want to be shouting at my vampire boyfriend in a hospital, but he's the one who picked a fight.

"Charlie, you could be dead right now. And then what, what would I do? Esme is dead, you killed her, Edward and Alice are alone in Forks if they haven't left, Jesper is dead, and Emmet and Rosalie are somewhere in Europe. I don't have anywhere to go. My family is scattered to the winds and all I have left is you." His face has gone deathly pale, even for a vampire. "You can't die because if you did, my heart would die with you and what would I have left then."

Before I can respond Dean bursts into the room looking frazzled and completely out of breath. "Sam gone. Have to leave. NOW" He pants.

I look at Carlisle who is still on the verge of tears and stand up. "Dean, what happened?" I ask as I  step towards Carlisle, reaching out my hand for his.

He lets me grab his hand and I hold on tight, trying to communicate through my touch that I'm not going anywhere. Dean is doubled over in door way, but quickly recovers enough to stand up and tell us what's going on.

"Sammy and I went to sleep in a motel like normal. When I woke up, he was gone. No note, no nothing. I waited a couple hours in case he was just on a walk or whatever, but he hasn't come back. I checked his bed again for any sign and found sulfur. Sulfur means daemon which means Sammy's in trouble. I already called Bobby and told him to meet us in Casper."

I grab my clothes from the chair and start pulling them on. At some point Carlisle takes my IV out of my arm and I sign some form saying I'm leaving against medical advice. Once we're on the road it doesn't take long to get to Casper because Dean drove like the hounds of hell were on our heels. Which they kind of were.

                                                                                    Sam

Once I realize I'm not where I should be I start taking stock of the weapons this house has to offer. Like in my dream, I'm completely unarmed, but I find salt in the cubbord and quickly line the doors and windows with the stuff. I also find and an iron fire poker and several large cooking knives. There are no guns or larger stabbing devices so this will have to do.

The house is worn down but obviously well kept. Who ever used to live here cared for the house. Through the windows I can see other houses with a dusty road running down the middle of what appears to be a tiny town. All the building appear to be deserted and I don't count more than 15 total. I can see a dark dense forest surrounding the town, but no clue as to where we are other than the chill in the air.

This must be the final challenge the daemon was talking about. I take a deep breath when I remember the dream I had before waking up here. I don't know what he was taking about, and I don't want to.

Suddenly, a young woman runs across the street, terror written across her face. I jump up and run out my door, waving my arms. When she sees me, her eyes go wide, but she come over to my house.

"I'm Sam, what's your name?" I ask, leading her inside.

"Lena. Where are we? How did we get here?" her face crumples and tears slip down her face. "I've had the worst dreams lately and now this. I don't know what's going on."

I rub her back and try to be as understanding as possible. This is not an easy transition, waking up here was disorienting even for me.  "I don't know the answer to most of your questions. What I do know is that a daemon brought us here, and there are more of us. We are his chosen ones. The dreams you've been having are visions. I've had them too, sometimes not even when I'm sleeping. He brought us here to fight to the death for some prize, but we don't have to."

I can tell some of this information is new but much of it is simply conformation of what she had been hoping wasn't real.

Over the course of the night more of the chosen start to appear. First is a soldier named Jake, then teacher named Alice and a firefighter called Will. We stay in the house and start to make a plan.
