Yami x Reader

You sat on your chair and looked out the window. It was a slow day today and you didn't feel like listening to the teacher's lesson. And you weren't the only one. You caught a glimpse at Yugi and noticed that he was also wondering his gaze elsewhere. You had to admit it, Yugi was adorable and super friendly, but Yami was the one who caught your eye.

You smiled to yourself, not only was he a skilled duelist, but he was sweet and always helped you. You kept your crush to yourself of course, it would be embarrassing if any of your other friends found out. Especially Joey.

"Alright class, that ends our lesson for the day. You are dismissed when the bell rings."

"Ugh, finally."

You rose from your seat as the bell echoed through the school. You gathered your things and began walking out. You suddenly felt a hand on your shoulder.

"Where are ya going (y/n)? We're all gonna go over to that new fast food restaurant remember?"

"Sorry Tristan, I gotta do some things back home." You said sheepishly.

"Are you sure (y/n)? There giving a discount to the first 100 customers!" Joey said almost excitingly.

"I'm sure."

"Do you need help with anything?"

You looked down at Yugi and just smiled at him.

"It's nothing to worry about guys. Just some studying and all."

"Geez it's like all you do is study." Tea giggled.

"Well you know me~ Gotta go now so I'll see you tomorrow!"

You took off and raced back home. Okay, so maybe you did lie to them, but it was for an important reason. You arrived home and opened the door. You tossed your things on the couch and got comfortable.

"Alright now it's time to put my knowledge to the test!"

You pulled out your deck and spread out your cards on the table. Unlike Yami, you weren't all that good at dueling. You practiced many times but would always fail in the end. You had hopes in becoming a great duelist like Yugi/Yami, but it just wasn't your strong suit.

"Hmm, if I use this card then maybe...... or that one-.... ummm wait what is- aaahhhhrrrrgggg this is impossible!" You fell on your back and grunted angrily.

"And Yami makes it look so easy." You muttered.

You remained on the floor for a few minutes and remembered all the times you tried to duel. They never really ended well.

"Of all things why did I have to suck at dueling..."

You hit yourself on the head and heard a knock on your door.

"Who the heck is visiting me now?" You pulled yourself up and made your way to the door.

You opened it slightly and peeked at who was outside. You immediately stiffened when you saw it was Yami. You quickly fixed yourself up and opened the door.

"Oh, hello Yami! What brings you here?"

"Oh, Yugi and his friends finished their meal back at that restaurant and I wanted to bring you some since you weren't there with us."

You instantly brightened up at that and happily accepted. "You really didn't have to you know."

He gave you a warm smile. "I insisted (y/n),"

Your face suddenly felt warmer so you turned away.

"W-Well thank you, I appreciate it!~" Yami nodded and noticed the cards scattered on your table.
