It was just another day in your classroom, and just like every other day, everyone was talking about him. They wouldn't stop. Always talking about the Slifer Red who almost never loses in duels. It really annoyed you. You were far in the corner of the classroom, jotting down some notes before leaving. Your friends were beside you, also taking about him.
"Hey (y/n)! Did you here that Jaden beat four Obelisk Blues today?" Her voice was high pitched and giddy.
"No, not that I care anyways." You replied flatly.
"Don't be like that (y/n). He's actually a pretty funny guy when you meet him."
"Ah yes I'm sure of it." You closed your notebook and leaned back on the chair.
"Why don't we go see him now?" Another friend offered.
"Please, I have better things to do." You snorted.
You put your supplies away and got up from your seat. Not even continuing the conversation, you left your friends in class. While walking through the hallway, you overheard more people talking about Jaden. Heck, even teachers wouldn't shut up about him.
"So he's won a few duels, big deal." Even though he's been talked about throughout the entire school, you never once saw the guy. And you didn't want to.
"I bet I could take him on." You wandered away from the crowds of students in order to find someplace quiet. You weren't a big fan of large crowds, and you mostly stayed silent. I guess that was why people thought you were always serious and/or angry all the time. Well it wasn't like you could stop it. You've been like this for as long as you could remember.
"Here, there's no one around here." You had settled in a nice quiet spot right outside the building. It was on the side where hardly anyone came. You had a small smile and sat down on the grass.
"A prefect place to read." You hummed. You opened your book and skipped to the page where you left off. After reading about two sentences, a scream ran through your ears. A very loud and kinda girly one.
"Was that Crowler?" You lifted your head out of your book and looked around you. He wasn't anywhere in sight but his voice was pretty near.
"Great, I bet another student pulled a prank on him." You shook your head and went back into reading. Until footsteps interrupted you.
"Sorry guys gotta run!" You didn't recognize that voice. From around the corner, a boy with brown hair and red jacket approached fast. With barely any time to react, you pulled your legs to your chest so he wouldn't trip over them when he passed by. Except, he didn't pass by you. He stopped in front of you.
"Hey! Are you also hiding here?" He asked.
"What? Of course not. I just came hear to read." You stood up and held your book close.
"Read? That's sooo boring."
"Shut up! You wouldn't know anything Slifer." You sneered. He blinked in confusion, then smiled.
"Haha you're a funny one!"
"Funny?" You looked at him. He smiled at you.
"Well since we're both here, wanna have a duel?" He asked excitingly.
"Duel with me? Look, have you forgotten that you're a Slifer Red and I'm an Obelisk blue? You wouldn't last two turns."
"Really now? I bet I could take you." He laughed. You got a little annoyed.
"Hmph, well since you have the guts to challenge me. I'll duel you."
"Sweet!" He grabbed your hands and shook them. "I can already tell this is going to be a great duel!"
You pulled back. "Yeah, right."
You each went to one side and prepared your duel disks. He let you go first which made you glare at him. Boy you were going to enjoy beating this guy.
*Time Skip After Duel*
"Flame WingMan! Attack her directly!"
"What! No!" You were pushed back from the attack and your life points hit zero. The boy ran to you to help you up.
"That was a great game! We should duel again sometime!" He stretched out his arm and offered his hand. You looked at it first before accepting it.
"I...lost..."
"Don't worry there's always next time." He grinned. You looked at him again. A Slifer Red was actually able to beat you. No, a student in general actually beat you. You were getting mixed feelings.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked. You gritted your teeth, then calmed down.
"You know, your a pretty good duelist." You lifted your head and smiled. He blushed a little bit then coughed. You found it adorable.
"T-thanks! I plan to become the next king of games you know." You giggled.
"I'm sure you will one day." You were going to say goodbye until you realized you never exchanged names. When you tried to ask, he had already beaten you to it.
"Hey umm, so what's your name by the way?"
"Uh, I'm (y/n). And you?"
"(Y/n) huh? Well I'm Jaden Yuki! Nice to meet you!" You stopped smiling and stared in shock.
"Wait, y-your Jaden Yuki?"
"Sure am!" Your mouth hung open. What, this was the guy everyone was talking about?
"Jaden...." He tilted his head.
"Yeah?"
"Umm, I think I need to go." You grabbed your bag and sped away from him.
"Wha? Hey wait!" He ran after you. He reached you quickly and put his hand on your shoulder. "What's the big rush? I mean, we just introduced ourselves you know?"
"I just remembered something I need to do so if you could please let go." You shifted away from him but he wouldn't let go.
"But I want to know more about you (y/n)! Can't we talk for a little more?"
"No, I really gotta go."
"How about we meet later on then?" He offered.
"Yeah sure but I need to go now sooo." He let go.
"Alright then I'll see you later!" He waved goodbye as you scrambled away and into the building.
"Dammit why did I have to go and say that!" You hit your head and ran back to your classroom. Your friends were still there.
"Hey (y/n)! Where did you run off to?"
"Yeah, you just left us here." You ignored their questions and sat back down in your seat. Also planting your head on the desk.
"Woah did something happen to you?"
"I'm just, really tired."
"What!? You can't sleep now (y/n)! There's going to be a duel in about 15 minutes between Jaden and another student! You have to see it!"
Your ears perked up. "Did you say Jaden?"
"Yup! I know you don't really like him but I know this'll be a great opportunity for you to see him duel! Pleeeeaaase come with us?" She pleaded.
"Well, it wouldn't hurt to watch." You muttered. Your friends cheered and took you to the place where the duel would be held. As they pulled you along, you remembered Jaden. His cute smile and bright brown eyes.
"Gosh, who knew he'd be adorable too." You blushed.
"Did you say something (y/n)?"
"No! Nothing at all."
