Two of hearts

___

It was the early morning, around 6:20 am. Y/n had gotten up earlier than usual to return Midoriya's jacket to him before she went to school. She was walking along the road in silence, unable to listen to music due to her broken headphones. There was the occasional car on the road which sent a gust of wind towards her every time one drove past her, making her feel a little off balance each time. She kept her focus on her phone, following the directions to Midoriya's house. Due to it being so early, the sun was still rising which left a soft pink hue in the sky. Occasionally, Y/n would look up from her screen, admiring the view.

After a while of walking, her phone vibrated, informing her that she had arrived at her destination. She tore her gaze away from the screen and looked up towards the plethora of apartment buildings all lined up, they all looked very similar to the complex that she lived in except they looked less run down.

She entered the building Midoriya had told her about and took the elevator up to his floor. She walked down the hall, her backpack slung over her shoulder with Midoriya's blazer poking out the top. She arrived outside his apartment, she froze for a second before knocking, her sudden nerves making her freeze up.

Y/n planted three firm knocks on the floor, anxiously waiting for someone to answer as she shuffled her feet against the carpeted ground of the hall. Suddenly, the door opened, revealing a short woman with her green hair messily tied in a bun on her head. "Oh! Hello!" She said with a grin. "You must be Y/n, Izuku told me you'd be showing up eventually." She stood with a gentle, motherly smile as she wiped her hands on the apron she was wearing, making it evident she was just pulled away from the kitchen.

Y/n nodded and smiled, she felt her awkwardness slip away. "Mhm, I just came to return Midoriya's jacket," Y/n said. "Is he here?"

"Ah, I'm sorry but you just missed him. He's out doing some fancy new workout." She said.

Y/n's smile threatened to falter a little. "Oh, alright. I'll just leave this with you then." Y/n said, pulling Midoriya's blazer from her bag and handing it to his mother.

As Y/n was about to leave, an idea popped into her head. "Do you know where I can find him? I'd like to say hi before school."

"Hmm, I'm pretty sure he's at the beach park. The one with the pier."

Y/n nodded and thanked the woman, saying goodbye with a grin and leaving the complex.

Y/n walked along the path beside the beach, she still had a few hours to kill before school so she didn't see a problem with saying hi to Midoriya. The amount of trash on the beach made her cringe, it was an ugly sight. She stood still for a moment, watching the waves crash onto the sand. There was something about the beach that Y/n had always loved, ever since she was a kid she adored the feeling of sand beneath her feet. The way the ocean would make her hair feel crunchy whenever she swam in it. No matter what country she lived in she would always run to the shore for comfort.

She took a deep breath, letting the crisp ocean air fill her lungs. She could taste the faint saltiness of the air on the tip of her tongue.

Suddenly, a familiar voice bellowed, filling her ears and ripping her away from her thoughts.

"GET THIS TO THE PARK ENTERANCE! AND LOAD IT INTO THE TRUCK!"

Y/n frowned, looking around for the source of the voice. She began to mindlessly wander, taking a step onto the sand and searching around for what felt like forever. She approached a large pile of trash, it was stacked high from general rubbish to furniture and refrigerators. Y/n heard the voice yell again, this time it was much louder and closer than before.
