Two of hearts

Y/n's eyes sparkled with excitement as she heard about the next event – the 'cavalry battle.' Her mind raced with possibilities, especially considering her newfound alliance with Todoroki. With an exhilarated grin, she turned to him, her eyes beaming enthusiastically. The prospect of collaborating with him in this event added an extra layer of anticipation to the already intense Sports Festival.

As Y/n moved towards Todoroki, a gentle hand landed on her shoulder, halting her steps. She turned to find Midoriya, his expression a mix of determination and vulnerability. "Wait, Y/n," he said, his voice sincere.

She furrowed her brows, curious about what he wanted. "Hmm? What's up, Midoriya?" she asked, adjusting the straps of her flamethrowers.

Midoriya hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Will... Will you be on my team?" He said, fidgeting with his fingers. "Nobody wants to team up with me because... well you already know."

Y/n felt her heart sting a little. "Look..."

"We'll win! I know we will...! I just need you on my team. Please?"

Midoriya's hopeful expression sank as Y/n turned toward Todoroki who silently mouthed a "no" at her. She frowned, her eyes silently pleading as she mouthed the word "please," but Todoroki's stoic expression remained unchanged. He frowned and shook his head, declining the offer.

"I'm sorry, Izu," Y/n said, turning back to him. "Todoroki and I have already kinda teamed up, and he has a plan." The disappointment in Midoriya's eyes tugged at her conscience, making her feel the weight of her decision.

"Plus... I don't really wanna be stuck with 10 million points right off the bat..."

"We can team up as soon as we have the chance. I promise," she added, trying to offer some consolation. Despite her reassurances, she couldn't shake the feeling of guilt as Midoriya nodded, clearly disheartened. The festival might be a competition, but the relationships formed among the students were just as vital. She hoped that Midoriya understood the necessity of her choice, even if it stung a bit.

Y/n walked away, turning around with a guilty expression. She stood in front of Todoroki alongside Iida, Momo and Kaminari. "The reason I've chosen you all is because our formation will be by far the most stable." Todoroki began. "Kaminari, you guard the left and keep enemies away with your electricity. Yaoyorozu, you take the right. Provide an insulator, shield us and supplement our movement. Iida, you take the lead. We'll make use of your mobility and physicality for defence."

As for Y/n's position, Todoroki turned to her with a determined look. "Y/n, you'll be the rear guard. Use your quirk to create a barrier of fire behind us. It'll deter opponents from getting too close, and if they manage to break through, your flames will be an extra layer of defence. Make sure to adjust the intensity based on the situation. We're counting on you."

"You got it." Y/n acknowledged her role and prepared to implement Todoroki's strategic plan. The teamwork was crucial, and each member knew their part in executing the plan effectively.

"And you'll hold them off with your fire and ice, Todoroki?" Kaminari asked.

"No." He said firmly, examining the crowd with a hateful look. His eyes landed on a large figure, practically sticking out like a sore thumb in the crowd. "In battle... I refuse to use my left side."

Y/n raised a brow. "Wait, really?"

Todoroki nodded sharply, but the moment was cut through by Present Mic's intrusive voice.
