Two of hearts09
___
Y/n stood just staring at her hands, completely tuning out Aizawa's reasons for the quirk assessment test. The thought of the whole ordeal made her feel sick. Using her quirk around all these people, the thought of something going wrong just kept replaying over and over again in her mind.
She was ripped from her thoughts when a deafening explosion rang through her head. Y/n looked up and saw a ball soaring through the air with insane speed. She couldn't help but be captivated by the sheer power and finesse of her classmate's ability. Her eyes widened in amazement, tracking the ball's trajectory with a mixture of envy and fascination.
"Whoa..." She murmured, her voice barely audible amidst the collective gasps and murmurs of admiration from their classmates.
The class buzzed with excitement, everyone marvelling at Bakugo's explosive prowess. Yet, in that moment, a wave of self-doubt washed over her. She felt a flicker of inadequacy, questioning her own abilities in comparison to the impressive displays of power around her.
"It's important for us to know our limits." Aizawa's words cut through the class, making everyone instantly become silent. He displayed a small monitor showing how far the ball had gone.
'705.2m'
"That's the first rational step to figuring out what kind of heroes you'll be."
As the class roared with excitement, Y/n could feel a pair of eyes boring into the back of her head. She slowly turned to be met with a familiar head of duel-toned hair. "Hi?" Y/n whispered, awkwardly waving to him. He turned his gaze away as quickly as it arrived, pretending not to acknowledge the girl standing before him. "Okay then..." Y/n mumbled, turning back around with a sense of confusion.
Aizawa oddly loomed over the class, glaring as he spoke. "The one with the lowest score across all eight events will be judged hopeless... and will be expelled."
The class once again erupted, this time yelling about how unfair everything was. Y/n covered an ear, her face scrunching in annoyance as everyone practically screamed all around her.
She mostly zoned out during Aizawa's speech about how life isn't fair, she was already starting to regret her life decisions. Yes, she wanted to be a hero more than anything, but being a hero lawyer like her mom or a PR manager like her dad seemed so much easier in the long run.
"Use your strength to overcome it all, so bring it."
Y/n looked around at her classmates, everyone looked so determined, even Midoriya who was usually a nervous wreck. She huffed, brushing her fingers over the miniature flamethrowers on her wrists. She knew her quirk would be mostly useless for all of these tests, except maybe the ball throw.
50-meter dash
Y/n was up against a yellow-haired boy with a black lightning bolt, it almost looked fake. She readied herself, propping her feet on the starting blocks and keeping her hands flush to the ground. "Denki Kaminari" The boy next to her piped up with a smirk.
"Y/n L/n. Say, were you born with that lightning bolt? Or did you dye your hair to look cool?" Y/n said, returning his smirk.
"Huh?"
"Go!"
Y/n ran as fast as she could, Kaminari falling a little behind due to being distracted by her comment in the beginning.
