I saw a video where Kevin Gates once said
"I forgive you for me.
Because I don't wanna harbor any resentment towards you.
I don't wanna cringe every time your name gets brought up.
So, I'm gonna forgive you for what you did, but I'm not gonna forget what you did.
But, I did forgive you."Those words have stuck with me ever since the day I saw that video.
The power that those words hold is genuinely unmatched.
Forgiveness is such an important quality to be able to have.
It's not always easy.
At times it can be the most challenging thing in the world to gain the courage to forgive someone for something that they did, especially when it directly hurt you so badly.
But, to me personally, the forgiveness part is so easy.
You can forgive anyone for absolutely anything without even realizing that you let it go and forgave them.
You can forgive someone without even telling them you forgive them.
You can do it for yourself.
You can forgive someone without even the slightest bit of an apology in any way, shape, or form.
It is without a shadow of a doubt the forgetting part of things that brings so much grief and is so damn difficult.
Everyone always said "forgive and forget so you can move on."
Don't.
Forgive, but never forget.
That is how you move on.
By remembering the pain they inflicted on you.
You have to remember those things so that you know better how to deal with certain people in the future.
So you know how to better handle situations.
So you know who to trust and how much to allow yourself to trust them or let them in.
Remember as a way to learn how to protect yourself.
