When they say that the one big heartbreak you go through won't even matter later on down the road, rather it be five months or five years from that point, you typically don't believe it.
But, I've recently figured out how true that really is.
Yes, at the same time, it is so so painful and it may feel like it is breaking you.
Hell, it may actually break you.
It also makes you stronger.
It changes you.
Causes you to grow in ways you'd never imagine.
However, a part of you may still care about the person who broke your heart and that's okay.
Eventually, you'll have moved on and fallen for someone new without even realizing it.
One day, you'll just sit there and start to think about all of the grief you went through.
You'll also wonder how you got to where you are without even noticing that you've already moved on.
To me, that is truly the best part.
You'll ask yourself how you managed to end up with this new person who treats you so well because of the things you've previously experienced.
It'll feel like you're finally coming up for air after having your head held under water for so long.
Moving on.
Letting go.
Falling for someone new.
Someone good.
Doing all of these things without even realizing it is without a doubt the best feeling in the world.
You don't have any hard feelings towards the person from your past.
You wish them well.
Yet, at the same time, you'll probably never have that relationship, bond, or trust with them ever again and you finally learn to accept that for what it is.
My biggest accomplishment by far has been learning how to accept things for what they are, letting things go, letting people go who no longer serve me, and not holding a grudge against them any longer.
I've learned that holding grudges only makes you bitter.
It's best to just wish them well and allow yourself to let the both of you move forward and be happy in life.
At the end of the day, being happy is all any of us can ever ask for.
