We arrive at studio Psalm 25 and are whisked away in two different directions to our dressing rooms where we are greeted by our teams of (stylists) (In my case, Daniel and the team) who will be making me look flawless for my television debut. I am wearing a black medium-length body con dress, a clean pair of silver vintage pumps by Mod Dior, silver bangles, and giant hoop earrings.
My face is beat and Callalily just hooked me up with an updo. Classix is dressed in a vintage black jacket with skinny pants and a skinny black tie. (Dapper) We still have to sit through almost an entire taping of "A TABLE 4 TWO W/ SHELLY," 42 minutes' worth, and (Needless to say) I am very eager to get this done so that we can go have lunch. (No offense to Shelly)
It's about that time. Classix and I meet in the hall, Classix grabs my hand and we make our way to the stage. I sit in the seat closest to Shelly and Classix sits to my right. Across from us are Shelly and her guest co-host (Drum roll, please), ZEZELALA. Old school meets old school. ZEZELALA and Classix are old friends so they start laughing it up. Shelly gets my attention and asks me about the upcoming event and my background as an artist.
Me: "I've been an artist since I was 5 years old. The first masterpiece that I made was a Church with beans and glue. Everyone has a talent and a purpose in this world. Mine is to inspire people through art and testimony.
For the second time today, Classix is asked why he chose to participate in the event. Classix says; she has a beautiful gift and it shows in her artwork. I love her work and she digs my music, so it's all good. Shelly asked us if we knew each other before this event. Nah, we just met this yesterday, Classix responds. "You guys have a vibe. I thought that y'all were together," says She. Classix and I laugh it off. At that point, Shelly chimes in and announces, Girl she married with four kids and a grandson. (Rude) End of interview. I don't remember anything from that point.
Just as we are getting ready to exit the studio ZEZE comes over to where we are to ask Classix if he's free for lunch. Classix says, nah I would love to but, I'm booked up for today. ZEZE says Okay maybe next time and exits. (Classix could have ditched me understandably but, he is a real one) Now, off to lunch!
