After years of lessons learned; I know that having a man isn't everything. It was completely ridiculous of me to be running around New York City like a schoolgirl with a crush. I need a friend to talk to, a friend that's going to give it to me straight. I call my girl, Boot. Boot and I go way back to Middle School, Mid-80s y'all. I spill all the tea. I tell Boot about my impending divorce, my dreams, and the connection that I thought Classix and I had.

Gir, you're so dumb! Says, Boot. You have been out of the game way too long. That fool told you that you were beautiful and your ring nearly fell off. It's true. I was dumb. I had to admit. We talked for about an hour and a half. Boot asked me if I needed her to come up here and kick his butt. I say yes; but, no! Lol! She is my homie for real. She tells me like it is, and I appreciate that. After that, I needed a nap.

When I wake up I am starving. I decided to throw on some slippers and run down the stairs for a snack. My hair is a mess and I have on a nightgown that says, "Grandma please put some clothes on." But, I don't care. I must walk through the hotel lobby to get to the store that sells snacks. I am fiddling through my pockets to get the money so I can pay when I get a call. It's Kin! I answer the call, "Hello!"

Turn around! Turn around, girl! Kin insists. There, standing outside the entrance to my hotel, is Kin. Kin is standing there, flowers in hand with a stupid but kinda cute grin on his face. (Stay strong, girl!) I tell myself. I stand my ground and simply say; "Negro, please!"
