Here comes Classix. He's outside the entrance to the stage. I attempt to flee the area but duh... I have to go that way. It's not that I am angry with him for trying to ditch me (I am) but, I feel like a fool. I try to blend in with the huge potted tree next to me. (Not the smartest choice since I'm wearing all red) Classix walks over to me and leans in for a hug. (Wait!)
Classix: "I just wanted to let you know; it's all love. No hard feelings, right?" Before I had the chance to respond, Classix said, "I have to distance myself from temptation!" We just met but it feels like we go way back; like old friends. Then you tell me about old dude and instinctively I want to make it all better. I know that's not my job, it's God's. I am sorry for the way I exited yesterday and everything after. You forgive me? Classix asks as he squeezes my elbow. (He's sending mixed signals ain't he?)
"I do!" I say. A minute later Classix is whisked away. Classix will be doing most of the segment alone since he is the famous one. I will be joining the interview later in the segment. Mr. Kaffe is one of the top evening celebrity news hosts on TV right now. During the interview, Mr. Kaffe asks Classix about his upcoming film; a remake of an old movie based around the Book of Revelations and the Rapture. Classix is also asked about his new acoustic album "Strum a Ditty Dumb Dumb." Once he is asked about other upcoming shows or projects he will use that to Segway into talking about me and our event.
Classix mentions my name, and how talented I am and plugs the event. Before going to the commercial Mr. Kaffe announces that I will be joining them during the next segment to play a game called "Red Light, Yellow Right." (Ugh another game!)
We are back from the commercial. Classix has been plugging the event, "Display Cases'' so Mr. Kaffe's Segway for my entrance. "Speaking of Display Cases...our next guest is the winner of the WSFAM Artist Event & Showcase. Welcome to the show; Afra! I enter stage left. I am seated next to Classix, to the right of Mr. Kaffe's desk. It's the typical interview. Mr. Kaffe asks me about myself, the show, Classix, etc. But, coming up next is the funny.
Classix and I will go toe-to-toe in an exciting task game. Whichever one of us finishes the tasks first, wins. However, whoever Mr. Kaffe says did the best artwork wins money.
Task 1: Paint a flower
Task 2: Wait for the red light to turn green then walk to the right to the yellow light
Task 3: Once at the Yellow light use the clay to sculpt each other
Y'all know how competitive men are so you know that Classix blew through all of the tasks. Guess who won the money, though. This girl right, here! $5k to be exact. (Thank you, Mr. Kaffe!)
After 3 minutes of the best time that I've had in my life, we are wrapped. As I am preparing to head out of the studio, I make a call to check on Mommy and the kids. They are having a blast and not missing me at all. (LOL) She also mentioned that she hasn't seen Kin at all but, not to worry.
I hand up; Classix heads out and it's just me and Melinda. Melinda asks if I would like to hang out. I say, "Yes of course!" We hop in an Uber and head across town for an impromptu dinner with Melissa's friends.
It's my first time in the West Village. I have heard so many good things about it, now I get to see it for myself. Although we were supposed to be getting dinner; Melissa suggested that we walk around for a while. (Keep in mind that I have on heels) It's still July, and although it doesn't get as hot in New York as it is in Florida this time of year; I'm hoping that my face remains intact and my pits don't begin to sweat, with all of this walking we're doing.
