Roman's POV

Isla literally slipped out of my hands but not before she did some damage to my face. I deserved that and so much more. It dawned on me that she completely beat me up tonight. First, she kicked me in the balls - twice. Then she almost scratched my eye out and lastly, she broke my nose. I was shocked that I had absolutely no anger toward her. She could hurt me all she wanted and I craved to be physically hurt by her.

But I wouldn't be able to survive the way she was shattering my heart. My entire reason for existing at this point was her.

She was smart, leaving in the middle of the night when I was most vulnerable. But of course, I heard her get out of bed even though she was as quiet as a mouse. I felt her every movement, every night.

She was scared of me. I could see she was terrified of the fact that I wouldn't let her leave. I never wanted to trap her, I just wanted her to stay so we could work through it. She can't just leave, she can't!

I was in complete disarray and my nose was bleeding profusely making me taste my own blood. Before even making it to my car, I called my guys and had over fifty men working on trying to locate her. Every single point of departure from the city was checked. Every train station, bus terminal, and airport had someone there within ten minutes while I headed to LAX, hoping that was the obvious choice she would make. No Uber was ordered under her name.

Before I got to the airport, I got a call that she was located by one of the junior guys and she was on her way to San Diego. Not losing a second, I made an illegal U-turn and headed home to change to depart for New York. As soon as she bought her ticket, I knew what flight she was on.

There she was, still in her little white dress with tiny red flowers, just an over the shoulder purse with her, wearing her tan sandals with my blood on them.

I saw her come out of the sliding doors into the arrivals hall like she descended from heaven. Her chestnut coloured hair falling in delicate waves, her tantalizing body, her captivating and pure soul. Her beauty was unparalleled.

I loved her...more than I loved life.

I saw it in her eyes too. I knew she loved me, I felt it every second that we were together. But she acted like I was dirt. She ignored me, her rage threatening to claw my heart out.

Without wasting any time, I quickly caught up to her as she tried to walk away and she ripped her arm out of my grasp.

"You want to cause a scene here, Isla? Let's fucking do it but you're not leaving me like this." I half whispered, half growled into her ear and pushed her out of the way of the crowd. We ended up right against the wall, waves of travelers passing behind me.

"Leave me alone!" She hissed at me. "I don't want to see you! Don't you understand? Don't you understand why?! What the fuck do you think is going to happen? That I'm going to be with you like everything is normal? After finding out you killed my parents?! Didn't you burn the guy who killed your sister? How is this any different?!" Her words were like bullets flying through my chest.

This was completely different!

"Isla! Please. Believe me when I say I never wanted to cause you any harm. I'm so sorry for what happened. I didn't know your father had kids, I didn't know I was breaking apart a family. It was strictly business and everything was fair. Do you think he didn't use the same tactics?" I asked her knowing what her father had done but she only looked back at me in shock.

"What?!" She retorted both angry and annoyed. "What the fuck are you suggesting?! That my father killed people?! Like you?! My father was an honest and hardworking man! He cared and loved his family, he was involved in his community, he built his company from the ground u-"
