Eddie's POV

"Sam?" I ask as I knock on her door in the morning.

I want to check on her after last night. Make sure she isn't hurting herself more. She said she just needed to know it was real but she didn't have to cut that deep.

There's no answer. Something feels off so I open her door.
She isn't here.

The bathroom is empty.
She isn't out on the steps smoking either.

"Steve!" I pound on his door.

"What!?" He asks, still sounding half asleep.

"Is Sam in there?"

"No." He answers and I hear him getting up.

We go back to the living room and Hopper is up, rechecking where I just looked.

"She's not with Robin." Steve says as he hangs up the phone.

"Where else would she go?" Hopper asks me.

We check the lake, the dance studio, our table in the woods behind the school. Steve suggests the house where we sat on the roof for our first date. She's nowhere.

Hopper pulls over at a gas station and makes a call.

"Thanks, Mark." He says and hangs up.

"She's not at the club." He states as he returns to Steve and I.

"What threats did the club get?" I ask, getting more worried.

"The club didn't get threats as much as she did." Hopper tells us. "Most those other girls don't live here in town. They can be ignored, people can pretend they don't exist."

Steve seems as surprised as me by this information. Clearly she didn't tell him.

"Who was it?" I ask.

"I don't think they have anything to do with her being gone right now." Hopper says.

'They.' He said, they. It's not just one person. If it's Chance and his friends, I swear I will.

Hopper's hand on my shoulder stops my thoughts.

"We'll find her." He tells me.

"The kids." Steve says.

"What?" Hop and I both ask.

"Come on." Steve says and gets back in the blazer. "The kids were there when I got home yesterday. El, Will and Dustin. She's looking for answers, where else can she go?"

Shit. Hopper is already tensing up and getting agitated.

"Oh, they said something about going out to Weathertop." Mrs. Wheeler tells Steve and I. "Is everything ok?"

"Yeah, just trying to set up a little campaign for them before they go back to school." I lie.

"That's nice. They didn't really get much of a summer this year with everything that happened." She says.
