Eddie's POV

I need to just let go. I can't keep moping around hoping Sam will change her mind. She may have said she's not with Chance, but she's clearly moved on.

"Man, are you into Chance too?" Gareth asks with a laugh.

"What?"

"You're staring at him nearly as much as you used to stare at Sam." Jeff answers.

"Whatever." I mumble and look back down at my untouched tray.

What does she see in that jerk? She must like him a little at least if she's been seeing him since she ended things.
Shit. Stop.
Ugh, I shouldn't have left those stupid flowers on the desk.

Fuck this.

"Where are you going?" Grant asks as I stand.

"Home."

I don't want to be here, see that asshole's smug face.

Mike, Will, Dustin and Lucas all share looks before trying to follow.

"Nuh-uh, you guys have classes." I tell them and leave.

Shit. What the hell is she doing here?

Sam is pacing around by my van, her car parked next to mine. Her face keeps contorting between annoyance, anger and worry while she mutters to herself.
She freezes as I approach.

"Everything ok?" I ask her.

"Um. Yeah. I, uh." She sighs a little in frustration and I'm not sure if it's with herself or me.

"Sam, we don't have to do this. I can just leave you alone. You were right, the other night was weird and a mistake and I shouldn't have gone to see you about it." I tell her.

"I didn't mean what I said. I'm sorry. I really wish I wouldn't have said that. I."

"I can't do this, Sam."

"Eddie, please, just listen. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have reacted the way I did. I know I treated you horribly and I'm sorry. Can we please just try to."

"Did you see the room? You're going to stay with Steve, right?" I interrupt her. If she finishes that question there's no way I'll be able to tell her no. I want her but the guys are right, I need to move on. Steve and the boys are going to give me hell after all my bitching but I don't want to end up this miserable again.

She sucks in her bottom lip a little at my clear avoidance of what she was trying to ask.

"Yeah, thank you. I. Uh. I'll leave you alone." She says and I can see her eyes getting glossy as she tries to keep her face neutral.
"I'm really sorry, Eddie." She says softly before going around and getting in her car and I watch as she leaves.

Shit! That's all I've wanted her to do since she left and I go and shut her down!? What the hell am I doing!?

No, this is good. She probably won't stick around much longer anyways. At least she has Steve until then.

I go home and smoke myself into oblivion, ignoring the phone as it rings later.

"Steve has called eight times, he's worried about you." Wayne tells me from my doorway. "I told him not to leave work. You want to tell me what's going on?"

"Nope."

"This about Sam and her phone call this morning?"

Ok, I may be stoned as fuck, but she never called this morning.

"What are you talking about?" I ask.

"She was out of sorts, drunk off her ass. Kept goin' on 'bout how she messed everything up."
