We were in gym class, and it was dodgeball day. It was also another day where our class and the boy's gym class came together for the day. We had just gotten into the gym after being called to come out after changing out for the class, and our teacher was giving us instructions. Let's see what he is saying.

"One of you guys should go on the team with the boys so there's an even amount of members on each team," he said, looking at me and all of my classmates.

When he said that, none of my classmates offered to go to the other side. You would think I would be used to them doing this, but no. Almost every time all of us were asked to do something like this, none of them want to do it, but I do. Like, whenever we are doing partners for things like badminton or basketball, they never really participate with me. It was always so aggravating and annoying, and I wished that my class wasn't like that.

After another minute of silence, I spoke up. "I will go to the boy's team and play on their team to make it even."

Our coach nods, thanking me, and I run off to the other side of the gym where the team was. I barely knew any of them, and I also had trust issues with boys, so not gonna lie, I was intimidated by being the only girl on the team. There was one guy I knew from my Spanish class that I had become good friends with, but that was about it. I didn't talk to any of them before the games at the beginning, but that was soon going to change for me, and for the better I would say.

We were soon playing dodgeball, and surprisingly, I was doing so well all the games so far. I hadn't gotten out for a while each game, which was kind of nice. Usually I got out within 5 minutes, maybe even less, of each dodgeball game I play, but that day, I stayed for almost the whole game. I bet the boys on the team were just as impressed with me as I was, but I don't know because I never asked them. Not even the guy who I met and know to this day.

As we were playing another game of dodgeball, and I was throwing balls to try to get out my teammates and others who had joined the team over there, I saw a boy near me who was playing really well. I was impressed, and I also wanted to talk to him just so I knew at least another guy on the team, so I headed over there to him. I took a deep breath as I approached him and started talking to him.

"Hi,  I'm Minze," I say, smiling softly. "What's your name?"

He smiled seeing me. "Hi. I'm Christopher. It's so nice to meet you Minze."

I smile. "It's so nice to meet you too Christopher!"

After we introduced ourselves to each other, we continued to play dodgeball. We were both doing pretty well all the games we played. We both lasted for a long time each game, and we never really stopped talking. We were talking all the time, whether we were playing in the game, waiting for another game to start because we both got out, or whatever happened. Most of the time when one of us was out, the other followed suit, so we didn't have to break off our conversations.

Soon though, it was time for us to go back to our locker rooms and change into normal clothes, for it was nearly time for the bell to ring for us to move to 6th period. We walked towards the doors to get us to the locker rooms, but before we departed, we faced each other and gave each other a fist bump, him initiating it not me.

"See ya," he said, smiling softly.

I smile. "See you." I say, and with that, we both went into our appropriate locker rooms. I was being teased about me and him by my friends in my class, but I didn't care. I found someone who I can talk to whenever I'm in gym! As long as our classes collab again a lot, we can talk to each other as much as we want/can.

*5 and a half years later*

Here we are, 5 and a half years later. We are best friends now, and we hang out every other week, where we just go out to eat, sometimes getting ice cream after. We will be celebrating 6 years of friendship in March, and I wouldn't want it any other way!
