CHAPTER 141: [Bonus chapter]Movie night
Sebastian glanced at the clock. It was already past two hours of their promised meeting time in the theater room.
"She'll come." Dominic's voice caressed his ear, making the boy turn his head to the seat next to him. "Maybe she was doing her skincare or didn't notice the time."
"Should we cancel tonight's plans?" Sebastian suggested. "Maybe she's tired after the gym and fell asleep."
Dominic peeled his eyes from his tablet to his son. "She will come."
"How are you sure?"
"Because..." Dominic pondered for a moment. "... I just know she will."
It was Heaven's idea.
As soon as Dominic and Heaven decided they wouldn't attend the Zhu family gathering, she made plans for the three of them. It was Dominic's first weekend day off, and she wanted to make it worthwhile. Moreover, Sebastian would have to go back to school starting on Monday.
So, Heaven arranged everything.
She wouldn't just fall asleep after hitting the gym. That was so unlike her... but then again, ditching them wouldn't be surprising. How could Dominic consider that would be unlike his wife when Heaven didn't care about them for the past years?
'She changed,' he told himself, keeping his eyes on Sebastian, who refocused his attention on the book. 'It's not like she was in another place. She's still inside the house, after all. It is so easy to check on her.'
Unbeknownst to their knowledge, Heaven didn't just fall asleep or noticed the time while in the shower. Matter of fact, Heaven was aware of time and that Dominic and Sebastian were waiting for her.
Another twenty minutes had passed since Sebastian and Dominic's last conversation. This time, it was Dominic who checked the time. Sebastian was busy reading while Dominic read a few documents for the next day. They almost didn't notice the time until Dominic glanced at the clock at the top of his tablet.
'Did something happen?' he wondered, growing a little anxious. He turned his head in Sebastian's direction, noticing that his son had been on the same page for the last ten minutes.
Sebastian was waiting.
"I'll go check on her," said Dominic, placing the table on the other seat.
"Can I go?" Sebastian immediately cast his father a look. "I'm a little worried. She's been zoning out since dinner."
The father and son stared at each other, thinking that Heaven had been a little distracted. Not just during dinner, but hours before that. They didn't want to point it out, but it seemed something was bothering Heaven. Compared to her attitude a few days ago, she was oddly quiet today.
"Sure." Dominic rocked his head in understanding, pushing himself from his chair. "Leave your book. She didn't return to our room, so I'm guessing she was in the gym..."
"Hey, guys! I'm so so sorry. I didn't notice the time."
Dominic trailed off as soon as he heard Heaven's voice. He and Sebastian turned their heads in the entrance, only to see Heaven wheeling in a trolley tray of snacks and wine. Seeing her come in while explaining made the two heave a sigh of relief.
"I was making some snacks for Basti, but had a miscalculation of the time," she explained, stopping in front of the first row of seats in the theater. Heaven had this gentle smile, darting her eyes between her husband and son. "What's with that look? Don't tell me you guys are angry that I was late?"
