CHAPTER 156: I'll keep you safe
"When we checked the Zhu Mansion's CCTV. She was spotted leaving the mansion in the middle of the night last night, only to sneak in tonight. Following her trail, it seemed she met up with someone. Or rather, she was ambushed."
"You are saying?" this time, Dominic broke his silence as he listened to this information he never heard.
"It's only speculation, but it is more plausible her former gang members found her, which explains the bruises on her. It wouldn't be surprising if she promised to return the money. And thus, she returned to the mansion to steal," explained the young officer, as that was what appeared in the footage they recovered from the Zhu Mansion.
After all, Andrea was seen leaving the mansion and sneaking in. She could've gotten into the mansion just the way she left, but instead, she snuck in without permission. The evidence was already laid out and this tip that suddenly arrived in the middle of the investigation opened up more possibilities to hasten this case.
"Mr. Zhu." The chief sported a solemn look, facing Dominic squarely. "Leave this to us. I give you my word we'll get to the bottom of this."
"I still wanted to talk to her." Dominic's jaw tightened, holding himself back from blowing up. He turned his head back to the mirror and continued. "As much as I am dismayed at the lax security of my home, I wanted to make sure this is an isolated case. Moreover, I'd like to know what sort of grudge this person held against me and my family that hurt my wife."

After her confession, Andrea was left in the interrogation room all alone. She already had an idea of what would happen to her next.
'I guess being locked up is not that bad,' she thought, thinking how dangerous it would be if she was outside. 'If those people didn't know I was here, then I'm safe.'
Ironic, but Andrea felt safer inside the prison. Another deep exhale slipped past her nostrils, feeling calmer in the situation. Not that she underestimated her life in prison, but compared to her fate, if her pursuers got a hold of her, she would choose to serve time in a heartbeat.
'I thought she will surrender me to them...' Andrea recalled Heaven, only to shiver at the thought of that psycho. 'Did she purposely provoke me so I'd attack her?'
Her face crumpled, realizing how foolish she was to fall for Heaven's elaborate trap. But then again, aside from fear and goosebumps, Andrea wasn't surprised. At this point, she somehow accepted Heaven was the way she was. That woman was crazy.
Her train of thought momentarily halted when the door flew open. When she glanced up, Andrea gulped as Dominic came in and sat down across from her.
'Now that I think about it, I heard their marriage was abrupt,' she thought. 'Hah... Dominic Zhu, you got one crazy bitch on your side and I am not even sure if that is a blessing or a curse to you.'
"What?" Andrea was the first to break the silence between them, arching a brow. "What else do you want from me? I already confessed. I stabbed your wife. Looking at you now, my conscience is being replaced by the regret of not killing her."
Dominic's unsmiling countenance didn't change, keeping his emotionless eyes on her.
"Haha... what? Do you want to kill me because of what I did to her?" she sneered, poking all the nerves she could. Andrea had nothing to lose anymore. The least she could do to satisfy herself even a tiny bit was aggravate him.
