CHAPTER 631: [Bonus chapter] The screamos
"Ah!"
Ivy screamed at the sight of a dead man in the elevator. She instinctively covered her mouth, pressing a button to make the lift close once again. Her eyes brimmed with tears as she picked up the courage to run away.
Ever since Ivy escaped Silas's clutches, she never stopped running anywhere she could. Fortunately, she hadn't met with enemies yet. However, she did see a dead body inside the lift. That wasn't enough to stop her, though.
"In here!"
BANG BANG BANG!
As Ivy ran through the hallway, she heard some screams and gunshots just around the area. She covered her ears and slid down to the drawer resting on the side of the corridor to hide. Her already short yet deep breaths were growing shorter with every passing second.
Right now, she was in the middle of the battlefield.
It would take a significant amount of luck for her to get out of this place unnoticed. Especially now that it seemed some of the enemies had reached this floor. Weren't they on the ground floor? Why were they on this floor, which was several floors above the event hall?
"Oh, god..." she whispered, mustering her courage to peek over the side of the drawer she was hiding in. The moment she did, she caught some men running by the end of the hallway. Ivy immediately hid once again, frozen on the spot, praying they wouldn't come in this direction.
BANG BANG BANG!
She flinched and covered her ears once again as the rounds of shots sounded closer this time. Her eyes were closed, unable to move away from this pathetic hiding place. When Ivy mustered the courage to open her eyes, she looked around and ahead without any plans of checking if there were people coming from the other side.
"I should... get in," she breathed out, almost out of breath, as her eyes lingered on the door nearby.
This event's place wasn't just for events, but it was designed with lounges and rooms like hotels to cater company's guests to have a place to rest. Therefore, there were rooms on each floor for the sake of that. She didn't think about that earlier, but perhaps this was what Joker meant when he said she should find a different place to hide.
Hiding in a room would be much better than hiding in the control room.
"They wouldn't get in here, right? she wondered to herself, only to shake her head to get rid of that thought. 'Jt doesn't matter. Hiding in a room is much better than hiding in plain sight!
Ivy clutched her chest as she took several deep breaths. She shut her eyes when she heard another round of fire and reopened them when the seemingly endless noise stopped. This time, she huffed as she bravely looked back to check. She saw some people running to the end of the hallway and when she was certain they weren't taking this turn, she picked herself up.
With clenched teeth and a steel heart, she rushed to the door nearby without looking back if someone saw her. Looking back only meant more fear in her heart. When she reached the door, she immediately held onto the knob and twisted it.
"Ahhhh!!!!"
Just before Ivy could open the door, she stopped. She instinctively turned her head to the person screaming, only for her pupils to dilate. There, by the end of the hallway, was Dane Zhang screaming his lungs out — she could even see his tonsils wiggling,
"Mr. Zhang?" she called under her breath, brows furrowed.
BANG BANG BANG!
Ivy flinched and ducked a little, but she still had her face facing Dane's direction. There was someone running behind Dane, and because Tiger was a bit taller than Dane, she immediately recognized him.
