CHAPTER 496: Did I pass?
According to the late general, he never met this man who forced him to turn his back on Dominic Zhu. He never had any idea of what this man looked like, his nationality, or what this man could actually do. The only information the late general had about this person was... he was dangerous.
This man who called himself No One was described as someone who seemed to have eyes, ears, hands, and feet everywhere. Even when the General put up a fight in the beginning, he eventually had to follow the man's orders. He had no choice. His family was in danger and even if he wasn't the most righteous person in the world and he had taken part in illegal dealings, the General was a father and a husband.
It just so happened that the decision he made was based solely on emotion and complacency that Dominic wouldn't hurt him. At least, he wouldn't hurt him just like this other man would.
No One...
What a strange name to call himself. However, people like this weren't new in the underground world. It didn't have to have a significant meaning behind it.
"I see..." Heaven rocked her head in understanding, listening to every detail being told by Dominic. She snapped her eyes up as a plate landed before her, gazing up ever so slowly to meet her husband's eyes.
Dominic spread his palms on the edge of the counter, bending over as he grabbed a fork from one of the drawers. "In the end, that's the only clue we got. I have to admit it somehow poked my ego, considering the General didn't even know this man's name. And yet, he chose him over me."
"But then again, I'm sure he considered other aspects before making such a big decision." He placed the fork on her plate, offering her a smile from across the counter. "I'm sure he has an idea that there were people out there who didn't need to let their names known before others fear them."
Just like Hera.
"It's still a good thing we know this No One might be Primo Rossi," he added knowingly, raising his brows to signal her to dig in. "We can make preparations."
Heaven kept her silence as she held her husband's gaze. Without a word, she picked up the cutlery, letting out a shallow breath.
"What did Bear say about it?" she asked, forking out a piece of omelette. "I'm surprised he let you kill the General."
"It's a personal grudge." Dominic shrugged. "I told him about it beforehand, and he said it's something personal. Therefore, he respects that I had to settle it on my own."
"He said that?"
"Mhm." Dominic nodded, acting as if this type of conversation was normal between husband and wife. "I did a lot of thinking about it. To be honest, I felt a little satisfaction watching the general feel helpless. It makes me think he finally understood what I felt that night."
Satisfaction?
Heaven arched a brow, pressing her lips into a thin line. "Darling, are you secretly a sadist?"
"Huh?"
"Not only did you torture the general but also, you found satisfaction in it." Heaven shoved another piece into her mouth and then rested her jaw on the bottom of her palm. "And then you even killed him. Don't get me wrong. I am not judging you. All I'm saying is, it's a surprise that you killed him immediately."
"I didn't kill him."
"Huh?"
"I said I tortured him and wanted to kill him, but I changed my mind," he casually explained, tilting his head to the side. His soft and cool expression didn't change, and there was no trace of deception in his eyes.
