VII: Adjustment

Third POV

About a week or so had passed since Izuku found out the truth about his husband.

As much as he wanted to deny things, he realized that some of Katsuki's words had to have rang with truth.

It's not like Awase was secretive with his work, but Izuku did find some things strange, like how he was able to purchase Akiko's Pozy despite it being so expensive.

Presently, it was morning time, as Izuku was in the kitchen making something for himself now that Akiko was asleep.

He had taken off one of spare hoodies he'd been given and tightened it around her, acting as swaddle to keep Akiko sleeping on his back.

She'd been pretty restless during the night now that her comfort was no longer by her side.

"...Maybe I should ask to collect it and a few things..."Izuku murmured out loud, scooping out his rice that was finally done cooking, so he could plate it with his egg as well.

It was only until he'd turn around to put the still hot frying pan in the sink did he see two men staring at him.

He nearly jumped, noticing one of them was Katsuki.

"What the hell are you up to?" Katsuki raised his brows, inspecting the omega who had a startled look.

"I was making something to eat... oh, hello." Izuku responded meekly, before turning to the redhead standing next to Katsuki.

It was only then did Izuku realize he was walking around with just his maternity bra and sweatshorts.

Talk about overexposed.

"You must be the infamous Izuku Midoriya I keep hearing about, I'm Eijiro Kirishima." Kirishima introduced with a sharp and friendly grin, "Don't worry, unlike Bakugo, I don't bite."

Izuku nodded, holding his smile as Kirishima peered over and looked at Akiko, "Cute kid, right, Bakugo?"

He then turned over to his never-would-admit-it best friend and boss who was subtly death glaring at him.

"Head to the office, and see to it the others are there as well." Katsuki grumbled under his breath before shooing the redhead away.

Kirishima gave him an all too knowing look before turning away, giving Izuku one last wave before disappearing around the corner.

"And you," Katsuki murmured, getting closer to Izuku, "This still the main level, don't walk around here half naked."

Izuku bowed his head, "Sorry."

Katsuki stuffed his hands in his pocket, letting out an exasperated sigh, "When I'm done with my meeting, you, Akiko and I will be going out to shop for clothes."

Izuku looked at him, a confused look in his eyes when the blond reminded him of what was to come.

"Your first mission, remember?" Katsuki pointed out, "I didn't let you live to be a freeloader, so be prepared."

"I'll tell you more this evening."

As he then began to follow the path that Kirishima took, stopping in his tracks when he heard a meek voice tell him to wait.

"What now?" Katsuki raised his brows, looking at Izuku who carried a timid look on his face.

Izuku fidgeted with his thumbs, opening his mouth to speak when a small mewl then a cry came from behind him.

Akiko was awake.

"It's fine, never mind..." Izuku shook his head, turning away and wrapping his arms beneath Akiko so he could bounce her and get her to calm down.

He walked away, leaving Katsuki to just stare at his departing figure.

"Hmph.." Katsuki puffed out, rolling his eyes and walking away.

Into his office, he saw those who needed to be there present.

He took a seat and stared at all of them who had stoic looks.

"Well?" His gaze going to Kaminari first who was the unlucky one to make eye contact with him, "What have you figured out so far?"

"Oh, uh," Kaminari quickly snatched the Manila folder from Uraraka's hand, earning a tsk from the brunette, "Well, unfortunately there isn't much of a trail that we found between Awase and his purchases."

"So what? The washed money grew its own two feet and walked away?" Katsuki snapped in a mocking tone.

Kaminari swallowed thickly, "No, it's more likely that he had help and that person currently has your washed cash."

Katsuki tsked, "Tell me that the latest exports of the drugs made up for it."

With an eager grin Kaminari nodded, "The methamphetamines and angel dust both raked in a huge amount, we're just waiting on the final number to get going."

"Ballpark figure around eight million if we're going by the minimum. As always, drugs sell."

"They always do even when they shouldn't." Katsuki sighed, turning to Sero, "And you?"

"Tough luck," Sero sighed, "We scrubbed through surveillance, phone records, burner phone records and emails, but nothing."

"Only people we found was a woman named Setsuna Tokage, who has a clean record and could quite possibly be the chick Inko Midoriya said he looked chummy with, and a woman named Ibara Shiozaki, a licensed physician."

"And I'm to assume other than that, it's just Izuku." Katsuki stated, knowing that's probably what the others were thinking.

"I don't mean to point the finger, but Awase is good at covering his tracks." Yaoyorozu stated, "Even still, I have a very hard time believing Midoriya doesn't know a thing."

"Maybe that housewife cover only extends so far."

Katsuki pinched his brows in irritation, "Don't let up, look for any more cracks in his history."

"For Izuku on the other hand, I feel he is to be cleared of suspicion. I truly don't believe you can fake the emotion he displayed when I told him the truth about his mother."

He rested himself against the back of his office chair, disregarding the looks each of his subordinates were giving each other.

"Keep digging, but you can make it second priority, make sure everything else is clean." Katsuki ordered, brushing his hair back as he watched them all bow their heads to their orders.

Just then, Katsuki's tone shifted to something more authoritative-like, as his arms crossed over his torso firmly,

"Oh, and one more thing from this moment forward..."
