XXXI: Not Here

Third POV

Izuku laid curled up in bed, attempting to sleep away the pain.

He was positive that he'd fallen asleep on Akiko's nursery floor, but perhaps someone had moved him.

Not that he cared, to be honest.

He was hoping each time he opened his eyes, Akiko would be laying right next to him and all of this was just a bad dream.

Instead, he was greeted with a crueler reality.

Just her Pozy and the tracking bracelet.

No Akiko.

"How could I have been so stupid..?" Izuku pondered to himself.

He'd allow Uraraka and Ashido's words to cloud his head and he got comfortable again. This was his karma, for having the nerve to think he was special to Katsuki.

He picked up his phone that laid tucked under the opposite pillow, the bright blue light making him wince as it combined with all his tears that were shed.

Perfect recipe for a headache.

He scrolled through his photos, his heart hurting worse each time the thought came to him that he may not ever see his child again.

Reaching for her Pozy, he held it tight to his chest, feeling his tears roll down the side of his face and over the bridge of his nose.

He sniffles hard, silently sobbing to himself.

Izuku never asked the right questions and now everyone he truly cared for was taken away from him or harmed because of him.

Suddenly, he was jolted by the sound of the door creaking open.

It probably being Katsuki.

Choosing to lay still, Izuku shut his eyes as the sensation of someone watching him was strong but he still didn't want to react.

It took about what felt like an hour when it was only a few minutes for the presence to leave, but Izuku was relentless.

He didn't want to see or speak to anyone.

With casual clothes in hand, Katsuki drove down to the company where everyone should've been working diligently on finding Akiko before drop off time.

The hope was to catch them off guard and not have to pay.

Also to find out if the person responsible for the park shooting was the same one for Akiko's kidnapping and if they were Awase's partner.

Though as Katsuki drove, he had barely an doubts in his mind that this was all connected.

He didn't believe in just coincidences and three separate cases revolving around that little family wasn't plausible.

The moon gleamed brightly against his windshield, thinking about how Izuku pretended to be asleep.

Katsuki couldn't blame him.
