XXXIII: As a Bakugo
Third POV
Outside the primary bedroom of the Bakugo Manor, the sun had given the light blue hue a dramatic overcast.
Such bright lights poured through the small gaps of the blackout curtains that left the room in what was essentially utter darkness.
In said bedroom, were two.
Izuku's eyes felt heavy as they opened up.
He'd been out for three hours.
His body felt extremely weak and sluggish, unsure as to how in the world he made it back upstairs.
"Finally, you've woken up." Katsuki stated, now in new pressed black attire and sunglasses perched perfectly atop his head, yet a blank gaze was on his face, "I got a call from Jirou and had Asui check on you and said you had a panic attack."
"When I got here, you saw me, started hyperventilating and passed out almost immediately."
"Should've taken that as a sign to just leave me alone." Izuku mumbled, his arm sliding over to brush his hair back, feeling a strange put in his stomach.
He noticed his phone laying beside him, shakily reaching out for it as he could barely muster out the energy to even pick it up.
"You had a breakdown." Katsuki bluntly stated, listening to omega click his tongue.
"I haven't eaten and slept properly because I have no idea if Akiko is okay." Izuku swallowed thickly, "I have no idea what I'll do if I find out my baby isn't okay."
"We're still working on finding her." Katsuki answered, watching how Izuku struggled to sit upright, letting out an exhausted sigh as his back leaned against the headboard.
Izuku flailed his hands, his phone still in his left palm, "Even if you pay or do whatever it is that you plan to do, are you sure they'll even give Akiko back?"
"I imagine this is a one-done thing, otherwise they would've broken up the amount into smaller chunks for me to pay bit by bit." Katsuki shrugged, hoping that was their plan, "If anything, I've put a little more than the requested asking price for a bit more of an incentive."
Izuku stared at Katsuki in silence, his puffy red eye-bags they shared for the missing pup did most of the talking anyways.
Gently sticking his hand out, he inched towards Izuku who merely slid back down and curled himself into the fetal position.
Katsuki understood him loud and clear.
Izuku didn't want to be anywhere close to the Alpha.
Katsuki couldn't blame him for that.
He preferred it that way, and yet he didn't.
"I'll try to be back by this evening." Is all Katsuki responded with, not hearing a noise except the ruffling of blankets.
Just as he turned away, he heard a sniffle.
"K-katsuki..." Izuku croaked out, his eyes feeling incredibly sore, followed by a choked laugh, "I don't..."
"I don't have anymore tears to cry."
Izuku's eyes glazed over, just staring at the photo he'd taken of Katsuki and Akiko on that fateful night.
"That night, you'd done it. I'd completely forgotten about Awase, about the mob issues. Everything."
Izuku simpered, taking in a sharp inhale, "Akiko was at the back of my mind, and it was just you that clouded everything else."
Katsuki could only pause in his tracks, not wanting to turn around for whatever sight he'd be forced to see.
His heart would hurt too much.
"You've said so many things to me. Things to keep me at ease, to lecture, to ensure that I began to question nearly everything around me as you do."
He heard a tsk fall from Izuku's lips and heavy ruffling of the blankets as Izuku sat up again, this time without any assistance.
"Katsuki." Izuku called out, his tone stern and demanding despite him wanting to break out into whatever meager tears were left, "Turn around."
"Turn around and face me right now."
Katsuki clenched his jaw, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he slowly shifted around.
Looking at Izuku's unstable expression.
At how determined he looked.
Holding his phone, with the picture of Akiko in Katsuki's arms. The two of them smiling happily.
"I'm taking your advice and I'm letting you know right now; I don't believe fucking believe you."
A shiver ran down Katsuki spine at how demanding Izuku has become, staring at the photo of him and the pup.
Izuku's words had gotten to him,
"You do not look at someone like that and say that they don't mean a single thing to you.
Izuku's tongue had poked his cheek, letting his wrist fall, dropping his phone.
"I'm not built for this lifestyle, and I've said that time and time again,"
He wiped at his eyes, gripping at the bedding.
"Please, I'm begging you to bring my daughter back alive."
Izuku's head dipped towards the bed, as his breathing had gone rugged from an overload of emotions coming at him all at once.
Next thing he knew, both of Katsuki's hands had been placed either side of his face, forcing him to look up at the man who had yet to say word in all of this.
He felt Katsuki's thumbs swipe away at his eyebags, a budding look of regret in his eyes.
Katsuki hated making promises when there was chance he couldn't live up to them.
Though, his sheer willpower completely dissipated when Izuku got him cornered with that picture.
Or, perhaps, this was something that had taken its course earlier on.
"...She'll come back to you. I promise Akiko will be back." Katsuki spoke lowly, pressing his lips to Izuku's forehead, not letting himself ease into Izuku's weak hold.
Izuku gripped to his top, his sobs fluctuating as his body rose then fell with each breath he took.
Time passed, growing closer to the drop time.
"Please...Please..." Izuku repeated, feeling himself grow exhausted and ready to pass out again.
Katsuki pulled away, keeping his hands to the sides of Izuku's face. Shifting his face downward, his eyes wandered to Izuku's lips.
Not yet.
Not until he brought Akiko back could he even think about it.
A sharp exhale fell from Izuku, as Katsuki felt dead weight on his arms and Izuku's nephrite green eyes roll to the back of his head.
