XII: Harsh Realities

Third POV

Izuku made it to the drop off area with just ten minutes left to spare.

"If I had spent any longer in the apartment," Izuku mumbled under his breath, thinking about how traffic suddenly became heavier out of nowhere.

As he placed the car in park, he merely waited for a little bit.

Honestly, the place Katsuki had Izuku come to was creepy. It was an abandoned lot on the outskirts of town, down a winding path that was covered in thick shrubs and trees.

It was good thing it was still mid summer, as Izuku would've been terrified to stay here if it was winter time, when things became dark much faster around this time.

He kept the folder on his lap, drumming his fingers on his thighs, trying to keep calm.

Izuku looked over to the seat next to him, staring at Akiko's comfort.

Her Pozy.

A two thousand dollar bear from the couture line for families called Nirabelle. The bear was white and had red splotches that vaguely resembled hearts and had her name in cursive embroidery on the bottom left red sole of the bear.

When the girl first received it, she had reached her one month old milestone and Awase had come home that day bearing expensive gifts.

A watch for himself, and a simple pure silver necklace with a ruby pendant.

"He spent seven thousand dollars in one day," Izuku murmured in his head, his fingernails digging into his thighs, "And I really allowed myself to go along with him and chalk it up to a bonus."

His head dipped, feeling a bitter taste arise at the back of his throat.

Izuku felt exhausted.

Tired of thinking about Awase.

He was so sure of everything before, but now that a hatred had grown, Izuku just wanted to let everything go.

His heart was no longer beating for Yosetsu Awase.

He felt nothing for him.

The only good thing Awase did was give Izuku his baby girl. That's it.

Suddenly, Izuku's glasses covered gaze looked towards the rearview mirror, seeing a black Audi Q7 begin to pull up.

With the windshield tinted and the windows black out, Izuku found himself a bit nervous.

"Please let that be Kirishima..." he mouthed, as the car had now pulled up beside him, and the window was rolling dauntingly slow.

He felt his hopes rise up, seeing that familiar spiky red hair in an updo and sunglasses that once covered his face get tugged down slightly.

Kirishima nudged his head, as Izuku got out of the car and walked around, entering the passenger side.

"Hey," Kirishima grinned, his toothy smile oddly being reassuring, "I take it the task was easy?"
