Percy

"We do have a get out of jail free card," Annabeth said, grinning. She turned to the rest of us and held up the ring in her hand. It was a deep black, that was plain and glossy.

"Annabeth..." Thalia whispered. My girlfriend turned to her best friend and her eyes softened and they exchanged a wordless conversation.

I happened to know exactly what this was about.

"Luke..." Thalia whispered painfully. The single syllable twisted an uneasy feeling inside me.

You killed him. You really think that if he was alive, he wouldn't come for you? You're responsible. You made that choice to give him the sword.

I shook the thoughts away.

Annabeth turned away from her and narrowed her eyes on the ground. She began to explain.

"So one of the seven of us will... die?" Hazel said, scared.
"We don't know for sure," Frank assured her.
It didn't assure me.

Ring or not, I didn't want to loose anyone. Plus, what if Thanatos took the soul back? What if he couldn't raise them from the dead? What if it was Annabeth? I had no idea what I would do if that happened. But the same went for everyone else - I can't let anyone else die.

Hazel had died previously. So had Leo... technically. Three big three gods. Three fates. Three in a quest. Three... deaths of the seven.

Fun.

"Um, well, I think we should get back to the ship, because my fingers feel like they're about to freeze from the cold - and I can't be the only one," Piper said.
"Uh huh, my beautiful nose feels like it's about to fall off," Leo replied.
"Well then you'd just be Voldemort," I replied and Annabeth snorted.

"Let's get back to the ship," Thalia agreed and we trudged to the Argo II.

"My baby!" Leo cried when we arrived on the deck via The Grace Siblings airways.

He ran forwards and traced his hand around a dagger planted in the wall, holding a piece of black material.

"We're so sorry!" three hunters cried, who had been sitting on the boxes.
"Ah, it's okay," Leo responded.
"We were talking to the lieutenant," one of them glared through tears.

And then I noticed the dead girl.

A silver arrow pierced through her chest and her lips were parted and almost blue. Thalia met my bright sea green eyes with her startling blue ones before they drifted to the stony faced girls around us.

"Let's exchange stories, I think we have a lot to talk about."

When I explained how the basilisk got me, Annabeth grabbed some english homework off the table and proceeded to bash it on my head muttering 'stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid-.'

The pain from the poison was now reduced to a dull ache, but it was less painful than Annabeth's ten minute lecture about 'dumb decisions.' Everyone else around the table began different conversations when they heard the first sentence and knew what was coming.
