A/N: A bit of a filler xLeo
"Maybe we could search for clues, to see where she went," Piper suggested.
"What kind of clues? The only thing I know is that I spoke to her before she went into her room." Frank asked.
"I don't know. Did she leave by choice? Or was she..."
"How would we know?"
"Okay. Umm... Annabeth. Annabeth would look for any signs that there was a struggle." Piper said. We followed Piper to Hazels room."How far away are we, Leo?" Jason asked, as we walked down the hall.
"Well, eyeshadow dude set us back a few hours, but the space we've travelled otherwise makes up for an hour, so eighteen hours if we're lucky. Currently, we've just passed the border into Canada."
Jason nodded grimly.Hazel's bedroom door opened with a creak. It was already open slightly, but Frank pushed the door handle so the wooden edges rested against the wall.
Contrary to Bad Boy Supreme's awesome room, everything was clean. And neat. And folded. A small white wardrobe stood opposite a single bed, which had light pink and beige covers. The light pink and beige seemed to be the theme for the room, seeming to reflect her sweet personality.
Piper pushed open the door to the en-suite, but pursed her lips and said everything was how she'd seen it previously. See, Piper was trying to educate Hazel more about modern times, and so on the way to Alaska, they'd spent half an hour in Hazels room, attempting to style her hair with gods-knows-what products and torture like devices. Hazel loved the idea but... they weren't exactly successful.
"There was a twenty minute window, from after Phobos left, to meeting in the dining space. It's 4.45 now, so any time from just over an hour ago, to 45 minutes ago is when she left the ship." Piper said.
"So she could've gone far by now?" Frank said. Piper nodded, that only worried Frank further."The entire room is unbelievably neat," Jason said. "I mean, how the hell does someone keep it this clean?" he added.
"That's Hazel, alright," Frank smiled softly.
"I agree with Jason, she doesn't even know what a vacuum cleaner is." I added.
Piper rolled her eyes. "Some people don't live in a dump. And besides, it's nothing out of the ordinary, it was like this before."
"If it's the same, you'd assume that's she left voluntarily. We know she was here, too, because Frank spoke to her before she came into her room. If Hazel left voluntarily, it was probably to deal with a threat, right?" I said, getting my detective gears working.
"Right," Jason agreed.
"So why not tell us?" I said, and people began to exchange glances. "Why leave without telling us?""Is that Hazels weapons and armour box?" I said to Frank. I pointed at a big box in the corner, which had lots of pink cotton blankets covering it, as if she were trying to hide the menacing steel with aesthetic.
He blinked. "Yeah, why?"
"Well," I said, walking over to it, "if Hazel left voluntarily to face a threat, she would take," I opened the box, "Her weapons," I finished. The others joined me by peering into the box."The body armour and cavalry sword is missing," I concluded.
"So... she took them with her?" Frank said, biting his lip worriedly.
"Yeah. This means two things. One: she thought she'd face a threat. Normally she'd have weapons on her, but she's taken the biggest spare she's got. Plus, she's got the main bulk of her armour. Two: She was in a rush. She hasn't taken the shoulder plates, so she didn't have time to put them on. If she was facing a threat, she'd want as much protection as possible. Also, she's taken a horse of some kind, probably Arion. Not only does she have her cavalry sword, but there's no other way for her to leave the ship."
"Sometimes I forget you're supposed to be a genius, Leo." Piper said, with a smile, sifting through the armour.
"Supposed to be? How offensive," I said, raising an eyebrow, "I'm practically Sherlock Holmes."
I was surprised to hear a laugh from Frank. It was half hearted, half forced, but I appreciated it nonetheless.
"Maybe," Jason said, smiling too.
"Isaac Newton?"
"Hmm," Frank said.
"Albert Einstein?"
"Possibly," Jason grinned.
"Daedalus?"
"I guess," Frank shrugged.
"Annabeth?"
"Now that's pushing it," Piper said, and we began to laugh.Though in a second, all of our smiles vanished.
Annabeth wasn't here. Neither was Percy. For all we knew, they could be dead. They could be trapped, dying, injured, tortured.
Annabeth was an incredible person, a clear role model of camp. Without her, the world wouldn't be standing. Her intelligence was awesome, and it was always nice when she was around. She was the only one who I could relate to in terms of machines, or building. She was one of the only ones who showed understanding of the Argo II, and the effort to keep it running, let only build it. Having another nerd around is comforting, even if a singular one of her glares could send me jumping overboard before you can finish your sentence of 'can I get another Mcdonald's.'
Percy was also a leader of camp. Not that he wanted to be, but it was clear when the kids looked up in awe at the kid of two prophecies. His power is beyond impressive (and also helpful when I accidentally set myself on fire), even a little scary. After the war, when I got to know him, I realised the guy wasn't at all what I thought. Hell, he didn't even know what he was doing half the time. He wings pretty much everything, and his humour and horrific luck was something that I could relate to. I mean, you gotta say Tyche hates him more than Hercules.
But I still felt uneasy about the prophecy. The Greeks invented tragedy.
I shoved the thoughts away, along with the sudden urge to throw up. They'd be fine. They're always fine. They're Percy and Annabeth.
"They're fine," Jason said quietly, clearly thinking along the same lines.
"So is Hazel," Piper said, putting an arm on the son of Ares' shoulder. Frank pursed his lips and coughed."Anything else, Leo? About Hazel?" Frank said, rubbing his eyes.
"The most important thing is why she left. We still don't know why."It went quiet.
"Should we try Iris messaging her again?" Jason said.
"Yeah." Frank said. Less than a minute later, we were gathered around a rainbow."Oh Iris, goddess of the rainbow, show us Hazel Llevesque." Jason said.
And there, in the image, finally, was Hazel.
It was dark, but just enough light to see her face.
"Hazel!!!" we all cried at once. The daughter of Pluto whirled. Her hazel eyes shone in the dark, like the bronze glow of her skin. Blood seeped down her face, yet most of it seemed to be dry. When she saw us, she gasped and we began to ask questions all at once.
But she slashed through the iris message and her image dissipated into dust.
