MILES'S POV
"Good morning, honey. How was your sleep?" Mom asked as I walked down to the kitchen.
"Yeah, it was good." I said. I have barely slept since Lina left and ever since that goddamn phone call, well, let's just say I haven't been sleeping any better.
"Aw, you look so tired, honey. You work too much." She said and I smiled softly.
"I'm fine, mom." I said.
"I've made some coffee and there is bread in the toaster." She said and I nodded.
"Thank you." I said.
"Morning, son." Dad said as he walked in from the backyard with a mug in his hand.
"Morning, dad." I said.
"Have you heard from Lina lately?" Mom asked and shivers went down my spine. I felt terrible over that phone call.
"Yeah, I talked to her like three weeks ago." I said and took a sip out of my coffee.
"You haven't talked to her in three weeks?" She asked.
"She's in Baghdad, mom. In the middle of a war. She can't reach out every day." I said.
"But she is doing okay, she said it's very busy over there. She's out flying almost every day." I said and she nodded.
"Does she know when she gets back?" She asked and I shook my head.
"She said it probably will be longer than she thought." I said and she let out a concerning sigh.
"That's not good, Miles." She said shaking her head.
