MILES'S POV
"Suri, honey, please close the patio door so Rooster won't get out." I said as I put another dish of food on the table and she nodded. Last year's Christmas celebration was spent with just Lina and Tom but since we had a new house that would fit more people than we knew, we decided to invite my entire family as well for the holidays. And the house was madness now. Kids running around. Rooster running around. People everywhere. And honest to god, I loved it.
"Hey, love." I said and kissed Lina's cheek as she walked into the dining room with another plate of food.
"Hi." She said with a smile. We both looked out at the lounge where both our families were enjoying a drink before dinner.
"Happy?" She asked and I nodded.
"Really happy." I said and she smiled.
"Okay, everyone, dinner is ready." Lina said and they got up from the couch and walked into the dining room.
"This looks amazing, Lina." Erin said as she sat down. Lina went over to the bar and grabbed the wine from the wine cooler. And while she was getting everyone something to drink, the rest of us started to dig into the food. It was absolutely delicious. We suddenly heard Lina's phone ring and I looked up to see her already putting the phone to her ear.
"Hello." She said as she continued pouring up wine but stopped abruptly.
"Chief." She said and my brows furrowed and I felt my pulse rising.
"How many?" She asked.
"Time?" She asked.
"Call Hurricane and Thor." She said and hung up and before even saying a word she started sprinting towards the entrance leaving us all there stunned.
"What the hell just happened?" Dana asked.
"Can't be good if her chief calls her during the holidays." Mom said.
