MILES'S POV
"Was the flight okay?" I asked and she nodded. Lina's mission had been postponed and now she was missing the San Diego premiere. I laid down in my hotel bed holding my phone in front of me as she smiled softly over FaceTime.
"Yeah." She said. We haven't been able to talk since she left which was days ago. She's been so busy training and preparing for the mission and I've been busy getting everything ready for the premiere. Sounds so unfair to say that I'm busy when she is out there saving the world.
"You feel prepared for today?" I asked and she nodded.
"As prepared as we could be." She said and I nodded. She had promised to reach out at least once before the mission was actually taking place and now she had only half an hour until she had to be ready to get going. And I felt my heart racing more and more for every second that passed.
"How do you feel about the premiere? Nervous?" She asked trying to change the subject.
"A little, honestly. But I'm mostly excited for everyone to see the movie. We've worked so hard on it." I said and she smiled softly.
"Yeah, I'm so proud of you. I honestly never thought it was going to be possible to do this but you guys really put in the work and showed up. I'm very impressed." She said and I smiled. I knew she was trying so hard to be present and as her normal self but I also knew she was in military mode and had to stay there to keep her focus.
