A/N: Aiden Gallagher is so ugly😭 how do people find him attractive

YOUR POV:

The clock on the wall chimed loudly throughout the room, telling us children it was time to wake up and begin our day. Everyone typically wakes up immediately with yawns and sleepy eyes, but expect two people—me and Emma.

Every morning Emma wakes up with bright eyes and a bright smile, "wake up everyone!" She calls, "otherwise, you'll miss breakfast!"

On the other hand, I always place the pillow overtop by head and try to roll over and get some more sleep. "Hey Y/N, you've got to wake up!" Emma says as she shakes me awake. I groan and try to shove her away, "you can't sleep in today. Today's the day that Conny gets adopted!"

My heart practically stops as I feel her ever bright smile. "Oh," I pause, "yeah, that's right." I take the pillow off my head and sit up, "I forgot."

Emma smiles, "let's go to breakfast! Today Norman and Ray were helping make it."

I slide out of bed and change, after that the two of us head into the dining room to see Norman and Ray setting down dishes and such as we enter.

"Morning Norman and Ray!" Emma greets as I simply wave.

"Morning Emma," Norman smiles.

"Morning," Ray adds as he looks over at me.

In the past few years of me being here, I've broken out of my shy shell and into an extrovert. I've become close friends with the three, especially Ray.

Mama rang the bell, telling us that it was time to take our places at the tables. We all sat down and began to eat our meal. Afterwards we headed to the classroom which was just rows of desks with screens in the middle. The headphones sat heavy on my head as I anxiously chose each answer.

We had daily tests that would show Mama our IQ, or supposed. In actuality, the higher the exam score, the least likely you are to be chosen for the slaughter. Maintaining the highest score possible, 300, was ideal. The subjects are english and math, the most basic and important subjects in school.

I slipped the headphones off once my test finished. I was one of the last ones, as usual. I could speed it up and make my tests go by faster, but I knew that if I rushed, I would probably pick the wrong answer and my score would go down.

"We're done!"

"I think I got at least half!"

"I'm so jealous, I didn't even get half."

Mama smiles whilst holding papers in her grip, "I have the results!" She announces, "Emma, Norman, Ray and Y/N all made 300's!"

Emma squeals in delight as Mama praises her.

After our testing, we get to play outside. Typically everyone plays tag or hide n seek. Everyone but Ray and I. Ray always sits under his usual tree, a book in hand while I either sit beside him or up in the tree.

"Norman, you should be it!" Don suggests.

"Sure," Norman agrees with a soft smile.

Emma stretches as she looks over at us, "will you two play?"

"Pass," Ray answers as his eyes stay on his book.

"I'll play later, Emma." I say to the girl as I climb up to my familiar tree branch.

Emma nods as Norman begins to count, making all the kids run off in different directions. "Hey Ray," I start, "why don't you ever join them?"

He glances up at me, "why don't you?"
