YOUR POV:

"Alright, if everything goes smoothly, we should arrive at B06-32 by tomorrow!" Don cheers.

"That's only if we work hard," Nat says.

"Then we will!" Chris and Yvette say in unison.

Supper went well despite it probably being our last real meal for a while. After this it was back to stale bread, nuts and plants.

"Gilda," Ray calls out noticing the worried look on her face, "what's wrong?"

"I was just thinking about how we were straying from the story Sonju told." Gilda begins, "having a human society in a demon world would be helpful, but we don't have that. We can't blend in and we need willpower to go back for Phil and the others."

"Sonju, have you ever heard about other escapees?" Emma curiously asks the demon.

"Minerva might be reaching out to other farms," Ray adds, "it's possible for there to be more of us."

"I've not heard of any, but if there are, they are few and far between," Sonju admits.

I speak up, "why is it so small? It's impossible that we're the only ones."

Sonju nods, "there are many types of farms. There are only a few top class farms like Grace Field, and the others are mass productions."

"What does that mean?" Thoma asks.

I honestly wished that Thoma hadn't asked such an innocent question, because I was not ready for such a disgusting answer in reply.

"They breed and raise kids in an unfit environment just to fatten and kill them. Human's born there have no free will, no names nor do they understand words. They could never dream of escaping."

They were practically born dead it seemed. Those poor children. Alive by a supporting source and killed once ripe enough. Disgusting.

"If this 'William Minerva' was reaching out, it would be to those top four plants. But if the others did escape, it would only be troublesome for you." Sonju continues, "but on the rare occasion, there are such thefts. Those are demons who steal from the farms in order to feast on humans, though it's rare. So that be valuable information to you all. Either way, there are no other intelligent humans other than you all out here."

After hearing such a story, everyone was shaken up but we all decided to go to bed for the night. Well, almost everyone.

Emma and I stayed awake. Emma was deep in her thoughts about what had learned from Sonju, while I was kept up with the idea of the mass production farms. The thought sickened me.

"Emma, Y/N?" I hear Mujika call out. "Are you two okay?"

"I'm okay! It was just a lot to take in," Emma smiles, "but I'll figure it out!"

Mujika frowns a bit, I nod, signaling that I was okay.

"Oh I know!" Emma exclaims as she reaches into her bag, "want to see our family?!"

Mujika sits down beside Emma as I eye the red haired girl curiously, "you just keep these on you?"

Emma nods as she flips open the book in search for the pictures that Ray took, "of course. They make me happy."

Emma picks up the first picture, "this is Phil. Isn't he adorable?" Mujika nods.

I miss Phil...how is he?

"And that's Sherry! She's fashionable and precocious."

And Sherry, how is she?

"Oh, and this is Carol. She's only one but she makes the cutest faces and pouts!"

Carol, a sweet angel. Is she okay?

Emma kept on with each picture and telling stories of each one. It really helped me forget about how terrible life was right now.

"Oh, and this is one I took of Y/N and Ray!" Emma announces as I perk up.

I lean over to find Emma holding a blurry picture of Ray and I. We both sat under the old and familiar tree. Ray had his knees up while I sat between his legs, it looked like he was reading me a story.

"Why don't I remember this?" I asked myself.

"Here Y/N," Emma says handing me the picture, "you can have it."

I take the picture from her and stare at the blurry image in my hands. There was something about this picture that I couldn't help but smile at. Maybe it was the fact it was such an intimate moment between the two of us, something that only couples would do. What a silly word—couple(s). That's something Ray and I could never be, regardless of our age. It's not possible.

It's something I can only ever obtain in my dreams.

"And this is Norman," I hear Emma weakly say. I look at the picture in her hand, it's the picture that Ray took of the three of us when he got the camera. "I promised Norman that I wouldn't give up, and that nobody would die. I know it's hard to move on, but I have to live for everyone."

I smile at Emma's words, despite how sweet they were, there was something so depressing about them. I leaned over, "oh and Mujika—," the demon girl looks at me curiously, "Emma won't tell you this, but we're pretty sure they liked each other."

"Y/N!" Emma yells, "Norman and I were just best friends!"

I smirk and cross my arms playfully, "uh-huh, sure."

"And what about you and Ray? Hm?" She smirks back at me.

I quickly stand up wanting to avoid any embarrassment that Emma might try. "It's late, I'm going to bed. Good night." I take off down the tunnel and toward the room where everyone was asleep, everyone but Ray.

"Why are you still up?" I ask as Ray looks over at me.

"I've got to figure this out if we want to proceed," Ray says.

I walk over to Ray and snatch the pen from his hands. "Hey, give it back."

I shake my head, "we need to sleep. Especially you mister." I walk over and set the pen inside of Ray's bag.

He huffs, "you're annoying."

I shrug, "I might be." I walk over to my makeshift bed and sit down, "come on." I pat the empty cot beside me as he sighs and comes over to his bed.

"What's that?" Ray asks pointing to the picture in my hand.

"Oh," I say showing him the picture, "it's from Emma. She took it of us."

He looks over the picture, "that girl couldn't take a picture if her life depended on it."

I lightly hit his arm, "rude. She tried, and that's all that matters. But hey, do you remember that day? Cuz I don't."

Ray nods, "I was reading my book to you and you passed out from exhaustion. Did you know you drool in your sleep?"

I feel my cheeks heating up, "r-really?"

"I'm just playing."

"Ray!"

"Shhh! You'll wake up everyone."

"I hate you."

"No you don't."

"I'm going to bed," I say placing the picture beside my bed. I lay down and turn away from Ray, "good night."

"Night sunshine."

I felt my heart skip a beat at that name again. I felt my cheeks burn as I stared at the tunnel wall beside me. He said it. He said it! Again!

I shut my eyes tightly, he said it. He called me that again. He said it! I couldn't help but smile as I replayed his words in my head.
