A/N: *insert that one Taylor swift song part where's she's like "I forgot you existed" cuz I legit forgot this app existed*

YOUR POV:

If you told me a year ago that all the older kids at Grace Field House had ran away and that Norman was dead, I would have laughed. Even though it's only been a few hours of our freedom, it felt like an eternity.

"Emma, are we going the right way?" Don asks, looking back at Emma.

"Yep!" Emma smiles as she turns the pen and pulls out far enough for the projector to appear. Currently our coordinates were B00-15. Emma then frowns looking at the coordinates, "we went sure off course while underground."

"Oh, I get it," Ray says, "the numbers on the left indicate the distance to north-south, and the number on the right is east-west. Location B06-32 is south."

Emma's eyes widened, "you figured it out so quick! That's scary!"

Ray shrugs, "anyone could have figured it out with these many clues."

"When I looked at the coordinates at the house, they were all zero's with no alphabet," Emma admits.

Ray nods in understanding, "so we're directly east from the house. We were at B01-14, so we went back north a bit."

"Emma, all of that sounds great...but what if we go to Bo6-32, and William Minerva isn't there?" I ask, "what then?"

She shakes her head, "nonsense." Emma then gives the pen to Ray, "Norman said that if I didn't understand it, you would. I was able to figure out the code, but not anything past that."

The morse code that appeared read out TOUCH ME. And so, that's what Ray did. He touched the projector screen as it brought him to a new screen. It had William Minerva's owl tag, the numbers 13-18-02, a blank box and the alphabet.

Ray studies it for a moment before looking at Emma, "we need the other book that didn't have any code. The outlier one. That book, is the code for this."

Emma takes out the book from her bag. "The code is 13-18-02. So go to page 13, line 18 and check the second word."

Emma nods and does so, "human!"

Ray inputs the word human and presses enter as the screen changes again with a sentence.

"'If you need help, come see me. I'm at location B06-32, William Minerva,'" Ray reads aloud.

Emma gasps, "it's from Mr. Minerva!"

Ray nods, "Norman probably saw this. There's another code, I'll tell you what to search f—."

The ground suddenly begins to shake as Ray quickly closes the pen. "An earthquake?" I ask.

"No," Ray states, "there's something coming."

Rapid footsteps were heard behind us along with the sound of things hitting the ground. We all looked back for a brief moment to see a demon right on our tails. We all began to run like our lives depended on it...oh wait, it does.

"What is that thing?!" Gilda shouts, "is it in the book?!"

"A demon!" Ray says back hurriedly, "that's a demon!"

"But that's not the demon me and Norman saw!" Emma declares, "the ones we saw stood up right and talked!"

"So all demons look and act different," I say, "good to know!"

"If that's a demon, is that the ones that wanted us at the house?!" Mark asks.

"No way!" Nat argues, "that thing is trying to kill us!"

"It can't be," I say, "those wouldn't be trying to kill us since we're so valuable!"

Don, who is at the front, raises a hand into the air and then solutes to the right. Suddenly, the kids are in groups of two—some following Don and some following Gilda. We follow Don's group as the demons continues after us.

"We need to take care of that demon!" Emma exclaims.

"Anyone have any ideas?!" I ask.

"Not one clue!" Emma replies.

"Ray?" I ask the boy, but he doesn't respond. "Ray!"

"I think I have one!" Ray says coming to a stop, "I'll trap him in the tree roots."

Emma and I nod. "Got it!" Emma says, "then we'll—."

"I can do it on my own," Ray declares.

"Ray!" Emma gasps, "you can't seriously be—!"

"And we'd leave alone, by yourself, why? Newsflash Ray, you just tried committing suicide just a few hours ago!"

He shakes his head, "I'm not going to do some sort of noble sacrifice. I'll do it alone because I know I can." He then smirks, "who is better at tag here?"

"You," Emma and I say in unison.

"Exactly, so leave it to me!" Ray says, "once I go, wait ten seconds, and then go join the others down hill. Got it?"

Emma nods but I hesitate, something was screaming at me to stay with him. Emma tugs on my wrist, telling me it's time to leave. "Ray, you better not get yourself killed."

He smiles, "wouldn't dream of it sunshine."

Ray runs off into the opposite direction as Emma pulls me along. I was stunned. Forget the chaos and life or death situation, did Ray just call me sunshine?!

"Y/N, you can freak out later! We've gotta go!" I hear Emma call out to me.

"R-Right!"

Emma and I run as I try and keep my thoughts focused on escaping, but it hard with the idea that I may never see Ray again. The idea made me sick.

Maybe his birthday is nothing but a curse.

We eventually made it back with the others and filled them in on Ray's plan. We continued for a while, only for a loud screeching sound to be heard around us.

"What was that sound?" Emma asks.

"Is it another one of those monsters?!" Nat yells.

Silence.

"Nothing's coming," Anna comments.

"Don't you think that Ray is taking too long?" Gilda worriedly asks, "he should have joined us by—."

"Shut up Gilda!" I demand as she goes quiet, and suddenly all eyes are on me. "Ray isn't going to die...he's stupid, sure. But he's smart. I know we'll see him again soon."

Was I projecting a bit? Yeah, just a bit. I needed to tell myself the lie that everything was okay, and that Ray was okay. It's all okay.

"Do you think he...ran into our pursuers..?" Rossi quietly asks.

Emma suddenly turned pale at the thought, so did I though. I just kept repeating my own words to myself, that everything was okay and that Ray was okay.

"I'm going go and find him," Emma announces, "Y/N, take everyone downhill."

"And leave you alone?!" I scream, "are you crazy?!"

Her eyes suddenly flutter close as I rush to grab her before she collides with the ground. "Emma!"

I hold her body close to me as everyone surrounds us.

"What's wrong with her?!"

"Is she okay?!"

I place my hand on her forehead, "she's burning up, not only that...she's losing a lot of blood."

I felt all eyes on me, "Y/N, what do we do?"

Those four simple words echoed in my head.

What do we do?

"Come this way," a feminine voice calls out. We all look to see a hooded woman.

My eyes narrow at her as I pull Emma closer, "who are you?!"
