YOUR POV:
The plan was simple—Ray would distract Mama while we went out and scouted. We made our way through the woods as I silently thought about Ray who was back at home with Mama. I knew he'd be fine, he wouldn't reveal that he's a double spy now. But I couldn't help but worry that Mama would catch on, or Ray would say something made Mama wonder.
We heard shuffling beside us as we looked to see Sister Krone smiling down at us. Norman spoke up first since we were all in a stunned silence, "do you need something?"
"I saw and heard your guys' conversation!" Sister Krone smirked, "the target was all six of you!" Her smile widened, "Ray, Norman, Emma, Y/N, Don and Gilda. The six of you," she leans forward as Gilda and Emma hug each other in fright, "do you want to join forces?"
"Join forces?" I ask as I cross my arms, "what are you playing at?"
Sister Krone straightens up, "we each have our own goals." She points at us, "you kids want to escape," and then places a hand onto her chest, "and I want to become the mom of the house! I want to take Isabella down and take over the position." She smiles sweetly, "what I'm saying is true~."
She moves her hand to her collar, "I want to escape my current situation." She moves her collar aside to reveal a set of numbers, identical to the ones we each have.
"Are you aware of the management here at Grace Field House?" Sister Krone asked, "girls who make it to twelve are given two choices on their shipment day. They can either continue on the path and die, or become a mom. The requirements for a mom position is to have top scores, and a recommendation." Sister Krone looks at us three girls, "if you can meet those requirements, you can survive without escaping. However, I don't recommend that path."
She begins to unbutton the top of her shirt and tugs on it a bit to move it, "they'll make it so that you can never leave."
A giant scar ran from her collar bone down her chest as I let out an audible gasp.
"What is that?" Emma warily asks.
"A chip. If an adult sets foot outside of a farm, the chip will release electricity and kill us. But on the flip side, it also works as a notifier to the higher ups if something happens to our hearts," Sister Krone explains as she buttons up her shirt.
"I can only live on the farms, that's why I want the best life possible. I want to live like a human being, even if it's fake. I want to play house and be surrounded by cute and adorable children," Sister Krone gushes before her attitude shifts, "but Isabella has to go. If you all escape, she'll be blamed and will be forced out! I won't stop you, your escape is beneficial to me."
"And you won't ship us out?" Gilda asks.
"I won't!" Sister Krone says shaking her head, "we have a common enemy. Let's join forces."
Norman reaches his hand out to grab hers so they can shake on it, but Emma stops them. "I think it's a good idea, but I need to know Sister Krone, what is the guarantee that you won't betray us?"
She nods, "if Ray tells me on me, you can destroy me. But if I tell her what Ray is really up to, I can destroy him."
"So it's a two way street," I say.
Sister Krone smiles, "exactly. Now, do we have a deal~?"
Norman and Sister Krone shake hands, solidifying the deal.
Don speaks up, "you were raised on a farm too?"
The woman nods, "yes, the same house but not plant three. I am willing to share any information to you tonight. So why not stop by my room tonight?"
Gilda takes a step back, "don't be so scared Gilda. I'm not mad at you, I'm actually happy! It was because of you two that I was able to identify the target!" She turns around with a smile and begins to walk off, "I'll see you later."
I shiver, "that woman scares me."
"But this is a good thing," Norman admits, "now we don't have to get anyone to distract Sister Krone. Ray can handle mom and we can focus on the main mission."
"She was one of us too, yet she thinks it's okay to kill kids?!" Emma complained. "She really thinks nothing of our lives!"
Norman nods, "she's still gonna ship us out. But she doesn't have authority or trust so we can be shipped right now. However, this is a good thing still. Trust and authority are hard to obtain. As long as we don't give her evidence, she has no choice but to let us leave. Even if it's just fake...we'll have to comply to this alliance."
