A/N: title bc I see twenty one pilots tomorrow

YOUR POV:

January fifteenth, just a couple minutes before Ray's twelfth birthday.

I couldn't sleep, only being plagued with the thought that Ray would be dying tomorrow evening. The image that my mind had created was horrible enough for me to stay awake.

I found myself walking through the halls of the house as I tried to distract my thoughts of Ray's death. The idea was sickening.

Why did we have to lose Norman a few months ago and now Ray?

What a sick joke.

As I passed the dining room, I heard a voice from inside. I stopped walking and put my ear up to the door, "Ray, what're you doing up at this hour?"

Emma!

"It's my final chance to say goodbye to this house," Ray responds.

"Oh right...your birthday is soon," Emma says.

"Yeah, I'll be shipped out." Ray answers. "Hey Emma, you haven't really given up have you?"

I could feel Emma's smile, even from beyond the door. "Yeah, and you haven't either, have you?"

"I haven't either," Ray admits, "so we both had the same idea. Good. Does N/N know?"

There was a long silence. My brows furrowed as I pushed myself into the door more as I tried to listen for anything. But nothing.

Did they leave?

The door opened as I stumbled forward and collided with the floor harshly. "Nice of you to join us N/N," I lift my head to see Emma and Ray standing there looking at me. "Hasn't anyone taught you that it's not nice to eves drop?" Ray teases.

I stand up and brush myself off, "I wouldn't have to if I knew what you two were up too!" I cross my arms, "what were you two just talking about?"

Emma speaks up, "I thought you knew we were faking it. I figured that Ray would have said something."

I shake my head, "nope! Nobody told me anything, thanks for trusting me though."

Emma frowns, "are you mad..?"

"Just a bit," I say walking over and hopping up on the table top. "But how could I not be? For months you two put me through hell psychologically."

"I am so sorry!" Emma cries.

"Emma, it's fine. Anyway, what's the plan now?" I ask as I look between the two.

"During those two months, mom was watching us...so while she did that, her focus was on us. That means other people had a chance," Emma states.

"Don and Gilda, eh?" Ray hums.

"Mom only has two eyes, so while she watched us, I left everything to them—the training and preparations," Emma explains.

"And how far along are you?" Ray asks.

"Supplies, food and warm clothes...we're set whenever." Emma states.

Ray smiles, "that's pretty good..!"

"And how will we run away?" I inquired.

"My plan is to run away tomorrow during the day," Emma announced.

"Hold it," Ray says holding up his hand to stop her from talking, "during the day? The situation has changed. We should escape at night. Sit down, hear me out."
