I looked at the ticket thoughtfully and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes to make sure I was seeing clearly. This is just what I needed, it wasn't much considering I'm stuck here for the rest of the summer, so this was a glimmer of hope, it was small, but it was there. Warped was tomorrow and I had barley even slept in two days. I slowly unpacked my bags when my phone vibrated. It was mom calling...
"Hey honey, how's the city life?!"
"Uh, busy," I said with a chuckle.
"Well daddy and I miss you,"
"I'm sure you two are in agony," my voice rich with sarcasm.
"We have some new we wanted to tell you, we're sure you'll understand why we sent you away when you hear our news!" I could hear my mom clapping anxiously over the phone. I breathed slowly bracing myself, seeing as I've had no good news lately.
"We're pregnant! Isn't that great?!"
"God, have you ever thought about anything but yourself?! I can't believe this, another child, you can barley take care of me and Lilly as it is!"
"We're trying honey, you went off the deep end, we could risk having you around the house influencing the new children, and unloading your problems onto Lilly and us."
"Children?! You have to be kidding..."
" A boy and a girl. Twins actually:) Max and Madison will be their name's." My mom chirped
"Disgrace," I muttered turning my phone off and chucking it into a pile of clean clothes I'd yet to hang up. She was simply insane. She thought of me as a burden, not her first born child. I didn't cry, I didn't scream, I didn't mope. I simply let her words reverberate in my head. "Couldn't risk having you around..."
What am I, a sickness?
I lied some clothes out for tomorrow, fixed a quick dinner for myself and the roomies who were likely at some party, and tiptoed into bed leaving a slight indentation in the soft mattress.
