The chill of last night still hung in the room. Kellin was more than happy to let Maddi stay in the guest room until she was ready to go home. I had to explain a lot to him. I cried and so did Kellin. He had no idea about my past with Kian. I also explained to him that the class trip ends today and that If I want to go home, I better leave soon. His face looked stunned.
"I can't lose you. Not yet." Kellin whispered.
"I know, but what other choice to I have?"
"You can stay here, that's your other choice,"
"But it's not that easy, Kellin."
I called my parents and told them I didn't want to come home.
"But Kay, where are you going to stay? Where are you going to go to school?" My mother pressed.
"There's a gorgeous school for arts a half hour from here. I'll audition for it. I'll dorm there or stay with one of my California friends."
"I'm not sure Kay, this sounds extreme..."
"Please, I'm begging you. I can't leave... This is the place where my real family is."
"Well it has been nice having one less child around..."
"Oh..." my heart dropped to my stomach "This is why I want to stay. The people here love me the way you never could. The last time I felt loved like I do here, was when dad was alive."
That shut her up.
"I do love you Kay. You'll understand one day. To prove it, I'll let you stay for now. Send me a postcard and a brochure of the school you attend."
Abruptly she hung up.
"I can stay."
Kellin let out a sigh of relief I knew he was holding in. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me in and whispered in my ear, "I don't know what I would have done if you had to leave today."
I buried my head into his cozy sweat shirt. "I need to enroll in school though..."
"Well what collage do you want to go to, babe?"
I stuttered. it was time to tell him. He deserved to know, right? I'm only sixteen. I had a dream back at the hospital. I told him about my real age and he flipped out, so I chickened out of telling him altogether.
"Kellin, I'm only sixteen."
"Come on Kay, you need to be serious with me," He said pecking me on the lips as incentive.
The silence was slurred as the realization hit Kellin. His soft features twisted in disgust as he wiped as his mouth.
"What are you saying?!" was all he could mutter.
"I'm saying I'm sorry. Love is love no matter the circumstances." I pleaded.
"Well love is based off trust. We obviously were never in god damn love." Kellin growled.
"Let me explain..." I begged.
It was too late, Kellin had already left.
