Looking at his younger brother, Illumi was almost frowning. He had feared for this to happen. He had feared that Killua would someday find someone like (Y/N). Someone he couldn't kill, despite theoretically being able to.

"Tell me, Kil. How much do you value her life?" he asked, his empty eyes staring straight at his brother. Killua was shaking, wanting to force himself to move. Yet he couldn't. He despised the fact that Illumi was so close to (Y/N), so close to killing her. He couldn't even bring himself to answer.

Sighing softly, Illumi said: "I see. She really is one of the few that could actually kill you. You like her too much to hurt her." The tense atmosphere only increased as (Y/N) looked from Illumi to Killua.

Suddenly realizing something, Illumi let go of (Y/N), walking over to Killua. He bend down, whispering: "I just remembered. We got an important and well paying job the other day. Dad actually wanted you to handle it."

Killua stared at the ground, not daring to move. Illumi continued: "The job is about your little friend over there." Hearing this, Killua's eyes widened. His head snapped up as he looked at his brother in shock.

"No..." he trailed off, fearing the worst as his eyes met her (e/c) ones. His brother said: "Her parents contacted us, wanting us to bring her back to the Colosseum. And if she didn't comply, they told us to kill her."

His blood ran cold as the world seemed to stop spinning for a moment. Her parents had ordered elite assassins to track her down and bring her back to the miserable life she had. And if she refused, she should just get killed.

"Let's make a deal. If you manage to convince her to go back, then I'll let her live. If you don't, then I'll kill her. You have one week." suggested Illumi, knowing that Killua couldn't disagree with him. Not with her life on the line.

I glared at Illumi as he walked back to his spot, content with the outcome of this 'battle'. Killua had surrendered. I quickly ran up to him, asking: "Killua! Are you okay?" He kept his eyes on the ground, not saying anything.

"Hey... What's-" I tried, but he cut me off. "Go back." he told me, his voice barely above a whisper. I blinked a few times, asking: "What?" He didn't look at me as he muttered: "Go back. To the Colosseum."

Frowning, I said: "But I don't wanna." He grabbed me by my wrists, finally looking in my eyes. Regret. Despair. But most of all fear. That's what his eyes were showing. It's as clear as day.

He tightening his grip on my wrists, saying: "You have to go back." "But-" "Go back. If you don't... Just... Go back." he said, sounding like a broken record player. Shaking my head lightly, I said: "Come on, let's go to the side."

I guided him over to our previous spot, holding his hand in mine. "Are you okay?" I carefully asked, already knowing the answer. Whatever Illumi had told him messed with his head. I mean, just look at him!

Getting no response, I placed each of my hands on either side of his face, forcing him to look into my eyes. "Listen, Killua. He's just manipulating you. Even I can tell, and I'm an idiot. Please return to your usual self. I like you more that way." I admitted, wanting him to be himself again.

"Go back." was all that he said, causing me to sigh softly. I let go of his face, saying: "I really don't want to. My parents..." Looking up, I noticed that he wasn't next to me. Panicking, I looked around, spotting him behind Bodoro, who was supposed to be fighting Leorio at the moment.

I dashed forwards, yelling: "Killua, don't!" But the moment I spoke up, he had already killed Bodoro with a single attack. My heart sunk as I stopped in front of him, looking into his cloudy eyes.

"Killua... You- You lost." I managed to say, slowly shaking my head. I turned to look at Netero, saying: "No, he doesn't get disqualified, right? He was provoked by Illumi! Killua would never-" "But he just did." stated Illumi, staring at me.

I glared at him, feeling my anger rise. "You... It was you! What did you tell him?!" I yelled at him, tightening my hands into fists, clenching them so hard that I managed to draw a bit of blood. If looks could kill, he would've been dead yesterday.

"That concludes this years' Hunter Exam!" stated Netero, causing my eyes to widen. I looked over at Killua, then back at Netero, saying: "Gramps, I don't accept this! This is foul play! Illumi clearly manipulated him!"

I turned to face Killua, saying: "Killua, please! Just tell them!" His eyes were still cloudy as he turned around, muttering: "Go back to the Colosseum, (Y/N)." With that, he began to leave. I slowly shook my head, saying: "W-Wait... That's not... Killua...?"

"(Y/N)..." I looked up at Kurapika, feeling the tears forming in my eyes. "B-But... I..." I tried to form a sentence, but failed miserably. Ah. This painful feeling again. I haven't felt it in so long. This is what it feels like to lose.

To truly, utterly lose.

I closed my eyes shut, hugging Kurapika, not wanting to cry now. I can't. Crying is for the weak. I am not weak, so I should not cry. Kurapika gently patted my back, saying: "It's alright, (Y/N)." I replied: "No, it's not. I wanted to go on adventures with Killua and Gon. But now... What should I do?"

Kurapika looked over to Leorio, as if asking for advice. Sighing softly, Leorio said: "It's not like Killua died. Once we get our licenses, we can go look for him. How's that sound?" "I'd like that." I admitted, looking up at them.

"I really like Killua. I want him to be happy. Just now... He didn't seem happy at all. I... I want to make him happy again. I want to make him smile again. I want my Killua back." I said, closing my eyes once more. I added: "I'll go check on Gon. You guys go ahead without me."
