I got some inspiration for this chapter from this song. it doesn't belong to me and rightfully belongs to the music composers who worked on the movie this song was written for. I will however tweak the lyrics to fit the story
troll lore headcanon: during Orlagk's reign as the king of the Gumgums before Gunmar was even born, other species of trolls feared that their children could be kidnapped by the Gumgums so they warned their whelps to be weary of Gumgums with this song.
Bular headcanon: Bular's mother sang this song to Bular once as a joke back when he was a couple of months old but when Gunmar heard her singing he liked the song since he believed it demonstrated why the Gumgums were feared by their enemies and encouraged his mate to sing that lullaby more often when they also both discovered that baby Bular liked the song

Bular was barely thinking straight from both the panic of his current situation and due to his poor state of health, one minute he was holding a small newborn whelp in his arms. He didn't care about the fact that the little one was covered in blood, birthing fluid, and filth from the dumpster.
And the next minute he knew he had started running back to his hideout carrying the crying whelp in his arms making sure that the newborn was shielded from the rain. He felt like his lungs were on fire as he ran and just how sore his muscles were due to his malnutrition and lack of physical activity but for some reason his mind kept telling him to keep running until he made it to his hideout no matter what.
* a few minutes later*
As soon as he made it inside he ordered the few goblins that stayed loyal to him to retrieve baby formula, baby bottles, Diapers, any clean towels that they could find, and other necessary items for caring for a whelp while he hurried over to his " kitchen" area to boil some water to get the whelp warmed up as he held the little one in his other arm and doing his best to comfort the newborn.
" shh, shhh, shhh it's okay little one, it's okay....... I-I-I-I'm going to make everything okay just hold on for a little longer" Bular whispered to the newborn as he set up a small Cauldon to boil some water. He felt a pang in his heart hearing the whelps continued strained crying then he remembered something... something from his past, back when his mother was still alive.
" Shhh, shhh, shhh you can relax now... here let me sing you a song that...my-my mother used to sing to me when I needed Comfort" Bular placed the crying newborn on his chest as he started singing

by the time that Bular finished singing he breathed a sigh of relief seeing the little one calm down and finally finding peace from the chaos from before. He can feel how cold the newborn's body was, indicating that the whelp was abandoned possible a few hours before he found him... him!? why did he not realize sooner that the newborn was a male... Bular decided that it would be better to think about that later. For now he will just focus on getting the little one warmed, fed , and most importantly comforted.
