Chapter 34: Flashback

In case you haven't guessed yet this chapter takes place back when Bular was brought to Trollmarket unconscious earlier in the story. I'm writing this to give y'all some content while ironing out the rest of the next chapter between classes and work. I would like to make a note that the information about Blinky and Aaarrrgghh's backstory is either loosely based on what is found in the comics, the Trollhunters and/or Wizards series, and headcannon territory

 After he and Aaarrrgghh returned to the safety of Trollmarket, Everything within the market sqaure was pure chaos when Aaarrrgghh had to explain what had happened to Vendel. Blinky had to run home with a crying Borhart in his arms to get away from the stress that he and the whelp were already going through. 

Borhart was crying even more than before Blinky took him for that walk. Even after Borhart stopped crying at long last, he was still whimpered and chirped out for Bular to come hold him as all whelps do when they need their parents comfort. Aaarrrgghh eventually came back home hours later but with Vendel in tow. Blinky was dumbfounded when Vendel told him that Bular the Butcher was not only in Trollmarket but is also being sheltered within the Heartstone itself.

While Blinky was tending to Borhart, Aaarrrgghh along with some volunteers ran to where Kanjigar was to give him back up only to find the trollhunter trying to take the Gumm-gumm prince to Trollmarket. Everyone else was opposed to the notion and tried to urge Kanjigar to just kill Bular while he had the chance. But Kanjigar made it clear that he wasn't taking no for an answer. Blinky held Borhart tighly without harming the whelp as a thought occured to him.

" Vendel you can't be serious, Bular here, receiving treatment, surely the trolls of trollmarket while start panicking if not a riot would've broken out by now"

Vendel gave Blinky a knowing look as he explained the situation " I know I'm more than aware of the many, many, many... risks that having Bular here would cause but Kanjigar that stubborn oaf  insisted that I heal Bular since he was the one who not only saved him but you and Aaarrrgghh as well. I'm surprised Blinkous I would have assumed that like what you had done for Aaarrrgghh, you would've have been the first other than Kanjigar or Aaarrrgghh to vouch for Bular given your history " 

Blinky exhaled deeply as he mulled over Vendel's words. It was true back when he and the trolls from Dwoza. He was the only one who vouched for Aaarrrgghh when everyone else wanted him dead. Even during the long trek across the U.S. He was the only one who stayed by the former general's side when he was forced to sleep alone.

Honestly he still couldn't believe that he and Aaarrrgghh fell in love and eventually became a mated pair together. Blinky looked Vendel dead in the eye despite the height difference and made his intentions clear.

" Take me to see Bular now. I need to take Borhart to him. He's scared and confused without his... father"

As mush as it pained him to let Borhart go. This was something both he and Aaarrrgghh agreed upon from the start when they first took Borhart in until Kanjigar could find Bular. Vendel knew that Blinky and Aaarrrgghh were struggling with conceiving whelps of their own so it was natural for anyone to think that they've grown deeply attached to Borhart as if he was their son. Vendel made a note to discuss possible treatment and other options for the couple once this Bular business was over.

Blinky followed Vendel to the Heartstone to see Bular for himself. But nothing could prepare him for what he was about to see. For decades trolls of Heartstone Trollmarket feared the threat of Bular the Butcher lurking the dark alleyways of Arcadia oaks and being caught in his deadly clutches. And yet here he is severely wounded, pale from blood loss , sickly thin, and of course the fact that he looked malnourished as if he was deliberately starving himself of both food and life sustaining energy. 

The last time Blinky had seen any troll with a similar condition Bular had was during the great migration across the country to find the very Heartstone that he and many other's call their home today. Except non of them were as bad as Bular's current state  and what worried him the most was that Bular had a severe injury to recover from. Blinky shivered as the memory of Bular fighting for his, Aaarrrgghh's, and Borhart's life even after getting shot on the side of his waist with that damned iron arrow. 

While trollkind as a whole can sustain more physical damage than the average human, The Monster Hunters have found ways to inflict serious harm to all magical beings. Blinky wondered if those rumors of the Monster hunters utilizing enchantments and other magical tricks for their hunts is what led to Bular to loose so much blood from one arrow to the side of his waist alone.

Borhart started to squirm the moment he saw Bular lying on the cot. Blinky almost dropped him if it we not for Vendel's help. Blinky and Vendel gave each other a knowing look as they looked between Bular and Borhart. Vendel had to leave to attend to the crowd of protesters before a riot broke out. Leaving Blinky alone with his thoughts as he braced himself for the final time. Blinky placed Borhart on Bular's chest so that he could reunite with his father at long last. Borhart had never chirped and squeaked so happily until this very moment. 

Blinky almost started crying watching the heartfelt reunion...even if it was one sided. Borhart started to doze off feeling exhaustion take hold of him. Now that he had his papa again he felt safe, he felt warm, everything felt right now that he had his papa's love again.
