Chapter 37: New to Love

Once again the art belongs to Stix-n-Bread IT'S NOT MINE. Just a quick announcement: I will end the story after just a few more chapters. I just want to thank you guys for following this story from the beginning and giving it the love it deserves. But It's time that I start writing the conclusion.  Also heads up this is going to be a long chapter.

(4 weeks later, around the time Strickler had Angor rot to America )

Bular was anxiously waiting for Bagdwella to meet up with him after work. Bular still couldn't believe that he let Kanjigar convince him to do this. Then there was Baal and Grimel won't stop those " Bular has a girlfriend" chants unless he asked Bagdwella out and Alva was relentless on giving him advice on how to treat a lady right. Bular chuckled to himself briefly as fond memories of how he met the three replayed itself in his mind.

( Flash Back )

    Bular was trying to travel through Trollmarket when he got lost. He was getting antsy being in an unfamiliar environment. It doesn't help that he was still new to certain areas of trollmarket without Kanjigar, Blinky, Or even Aaarrrgghh having to accompany him for once. He was thankful that Bagdwella was more than happy to take care of Borhart for him while he was out doing errands for her... she... she made him feel less like a- Bular's thoughts were interrupted when he was bumped into.  

" OW watch it"

" Don't just lie there you big oaf we better go before we-" 

Bular, the big troll on top of him, and the smaller one trying to help his friend up all froze when they heard yelling in the distance

"RUN FOR IT"

  Bular ran with the two when he saw a dark alley for him and the other two to hide in and grabbed them by the arm. Once the three made it to their hiding spot, Bular took a peak out to see the trolls chasing his new... companions... accomplices... the associates that he reluctantly joined. Much to Bular's relief, The two trolls despite being terrified of his presence stayed quiet as they waited for the coast to by clear.  After Bular affirmed the two that it was safe to come out, They all looked at each other unsure of what to do. 

" um... hi... I'm Grimel or Grim if your one of my friends... the big guy behind me is Baal. Thank you for saving our hides back there" Bular felt a sense of accomplishment when the shorter of the two initiated a conversation with him. Bular was surprisingly able to have a great conversation with Grim and Baal as they helped with directions. Even after Baal and Grim tried to introduce Bular to a cautious Alva after reaching his destination, Bular was able to find a friend group by himself for the first time since the battle of Killahead bridge

Bular snapped out of his little day dream when he saw Bagdwella approaching. She was dressed up nicely, Perfect for their first date.  It was admittedly awkward as the two walked in silence. Neither of them have gone on an official date, Bagdwella may have had experience  flirting with flings here or there but she was never able to find a troll that she wanted a serious relationship before. Bular always believed himself to be hopeless when it came to romance and how to do it right. But he wanted to learn starting now, No more backing out.

" You look lovely tonight, I hope you enjoy our time together tonight." Bular would be sweating bullets if he could as he waited for Bagdwella's reply. " Thank you, you look lovely too. And I'm already enjoying my time with you." Bular let go of the breath he didn't know that he was holding. Bular and Bagdwella were able to have a pleasant evening with dinner, A walk around the more scenic places in Trollmarket, And got lost in conversation. Bular had never felt so happy but also at peace alone with another troll in this way before. Bagdwella thought that Bular was charming and funny. The good times were interrupted when one of Bular's few remaining haters started cursing and insulting the two. Bagdwella was especially targeted as the troll insulting her believed her to be a traitor for going on a date with their enemy.

Bular started growling when Bagdwella was forcibly grabbed by the arm and had part of her dress ripped. Bular struck so fast not even he noticed what had happened until Bagdwella's voice snapped him out of his rage. The troll trying to physically attack Bagdwella was on the ground with a bloody nose. Bular felt his blood turn ice cold as he realized that his attack would be able to prompt the troll tribunal and Kanjigar to execute him. Suddenly, Kanjigar's voice could be heard from nearby.

" Are you two okay? I saw what he tried to do to Bagdwella while I was finishing one of my calls. I'm so sorry I wasn't able to stop this mess before it escalated"

 Bular looked around and realized that there were other trolls looking worried for Bagdwella and some were cheering Bular on for defending his woman. Kanjigar apprehended the troll while Bagdwella kept asking Bular if he was still alright. Bular honestly thought that he was lucky that Kanjigar witnessed what had happened. If things ended differently, He would have been execute and Borhart would lose him all over again... but this time for good.

" I... I almost got myself killed... what if Kanjigar hadn't seen what had happened and took his side ... Borhart.... he'll be all alone."

Bular ran off ignoring Bagdwella's cries as he rushed home. Bular didn't care about anything else other than returning to his son. Blinky was tending to Borhart when Bular rushed through the door. Bular was practically crying a river as he took Borhart out of Blinky's arms and held him close to his chest as he knelt on the ground. Blinky sighed as he recognized the look on Bular's face... it was all too familiar  to him at this point.

" Bular... here let me make you some tea and we can talk about this... Let me guess, someone tried to assault Bagdwella for going on a date with you and you defended her using the only means you had on hand"

Bular looked up to meet Blinky's gaze, Shocked that Blinky was able to guess what had happened as he wiped his tears from his face with a confused and worried Borhart pawed at his father's chest. After Bular managed to settle down Blinky explained to him how he knew what happened to him because he had the same experience all the way back when he and Aaarrrgghh started courting. Bular felt ashamed for running away from Bagdwella after what happened, trying to rock himself in a vain attempt to calm his heart down. Borhart's first attempts to nuzzle his father just as Bular had done for him helped Bular feel better... if only for a short while as the guilt seeped into his heart. 

It was only when Bular got up to answer the door, That he was able to snap out of his stupor. He did a double take when he saw Bagdwella at his doorstep. Bagdwella ran up to Bular and hugged him, apologizing for what had happened and for inadvertently causing Bular to fear for his life and Borhart's wellbeing. Bular was shocked but also happy that Bagdwella was not only legitimately worried for him but also cared more about his wellbeing over the fact that they're date got interrupted.

" Bagdwella... Dwelly... it's okay... I'm better now, I was able to calm down thanks to my talk with Blinky. Come inside, It would be nice if you and I finished our talk and I-" 

Bular was frozen in shock when Bagdwella suddenly pulled his face to meet hers and pressed her nose against his... It was official... Bular was going to have this woman as his mate even if it killed him.
