As I stand before the Great Wall of Vannaheim, my men grow increasingly agitated. They're eager for battle, yearning to break through the impressive entryway that awes them.I have to admit, I'm pleasantly surprised at the craftsmanship and skill thats gone into constructing such a robust barricade. It's truly a marvel. It's almost a shame that today it will be reduced to mere rubble.
Analysing the structure before me, I use my keen eye to spot a vulnerable point. It's not long before I find it, and I instantly envision the bricks falling one by one. The phantom crashing sounds resonating in my ears like a beautiful symphony.
Some may argue that it's ill-advised to prematurely script the story of victory before it's been attained. But the certainty of my success leaves no room for doubt. I will be hailed as Loki, the god of mischief, the conqueror of walls. The breaking of this barricade will be the catalyst that propels me to glory.
"When do we take a crack at the wall, my king?"
I hear an eager guard address me, but I maintain my focus on assessing the wall as I speak, "Not quite yet, my valiant warrior; we must savour the element of surprise." I look towards my guard, sensing his confusion before he utters a single word.
"Element of surprise?" He replies, "but they already know we're here."
My smug grin widens. "They may be aware of our presence, but they believe their wall to be impassable. How surprised they'll be when they witness its inevitable collapse."
"You have found a way?" he exclaims, awed. "Then let us begin!"
His excitement is expected, but I click my tongue in a disapproving manner, halting his enthusiasm.
"No. We must wait. The deliberate delay in launching our assault only adds to the dramatic tension, soldier. It serves a purpose beyond mere timing. By withholding our strike, we instill doubt and unease, causing them to question their own resolve. Let their minds fester in uncertainty while we revel in the view of them unravelling."
A cruel smile plays across my lips and my soldier chuckles at my cunning.
He struts away, eager to share our conversation with his comrades. And now alone, I look up, my eyes trailing the skyline. I take a moment to relish in the knowledge that our enemies, stationed upon the towering walls above, are flustered. I see it on their faces as they look down from their elevated position. They fear me.
Good.
The fear we sow, will be the seed of their downfall.
The familiar footfalls of my loyal guard and friend approach, and I expect him to offer praise for our progress in the invasion. Instead, his words pull me from my victorious reverie.
"Are the Vanir men withdrawing from the wall?"
I follow Joben's gaze, deep furrows forming on my brow as I absorb the unfolding sight before me.
