I've got my ticket for the long way 'round
Two bottle whiskey for the way
And I sure would like some sweet company
And I'm leaving tomorrow. What'd you say?
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me everywhere, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You're gonna miss me by my talk, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
I've got my ticket for the long way 'round
The one with the prettiest of views
It's got mountains, it's got rivers
It's got sights to give you shivers
But it sure would be prettier with you
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You're gonna miss me by my talk, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me everywhere, oh
You're sure gonna miss me when I'm gone
When I'm gone, when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You're gonna miss me by my talk, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm goneThere it was again, Poppy's beautiful singing voice, and Branch could only watch from afar. She had the voice of an angel, raw talent. He had to say something to her. Poppy put her ukulele down and smiled at her friends.
DJ Suki: Good luck at the concert tonight, Poppy, you're gonna rock that solo!
Biggie: We'll cheer you on.
Mr. Dinkles: Mew.
Poppy: Thanks guys, I've been practicing. I'm not too worried, I think it'll be great.
Poppy waved goodbye to her friends and sat under a tree taking her scrapbook out. Man, she was an amazing troll, and her voice matched her personality. Branch took a deep breath and approached Poppy.
Branch: Hey...Poppy?
Poppy looked up at Branch and smiled at him.
Poppy: Hey, what's up?
Branch gulped nervously seeing this beautiful troll in front of him...no, he wasn't gonna back off like it was nothing, he was gonna see it to the end.
Branch: That was um...some good singing earlier.
Poppy: Oh...you saw that?
Branch: Yeah...
Poppy blushed and looked down feeling a little embarrassed.
Poppy: Oh...did I disturb you? Was I too pitchy?
Branch: No, Poppy, of course not, I thought it was amazing.
Poppy: R-Really...?
Branch: Yeah, you're really good.
Branch sat down next to Poppy and wrapped his arm around her.
Poppy: Are you being serious...or are you just looking for my attention?
Branch: No, Poppy, I'm being serious, your voice...it's incredible...when you sing, the whole forest sings with you, literally.
Poppy: O-Oh Branch...
Branch: I'm actually looking forward to your performance tonight, you're gonna do an amazing job.
Poppy: Thank you...
Branch: ...Hey, do you mind singing another song?
Poppy: W-What? A-Are you serious?
Branch: Yeah, Poppy...I actually like hearing your voice, it's very beautiful...just like you.
Poppy gasped softly and blushed, putting her hands over her mouth. She couldn't believe what she just heard.
Poppy: I...I'm beautiful...?
Branch: Very, Poppy, like a field of flowers.
Poppy wiped a tear she didn't realize was trickling down her face.
Poppy: You really mean that...?
Branch: With all of my heart.
Poppy looked down at her crossed legs, still processing what she just heard. Did Branch love her that much?
Branch: So, Poppy...do you mind singing again? While it's just us?
Poppy: ...I'd love to.
Poppy picked up her ukulele again and began to play a soft melody. While she sang, the forest came to life and began to sing along with her.
Hello, darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silenceBranch smiled hearing Poppy's beautiful voice, she was truly talented. When Poppy put her ukulele down again, Branch stood up and put his hands on her shoulders.
Branch: Break a leg tonight.
Poppy: Thank you...
To Poppy's surprise, Branch pulled her closer to him and kissed her right on the lips. She gasped softly before her lips made contact with his, she touched his arms lightly still processing this sudden move. When Branch pulled away, Poppy stared at him, her face crimson red like a rose.
Branch: See you tonight.
When Branch left, Poppy was left in a state of shock. She looked down at her ukulele, then back up. Was she dreaming? Did Branch really feel that way about her? She sat under a tree with her legs crossed, processing how her angelic singing completely changed her life for the better.
