A scene I imagine could've happened in Band Together
The campfire was set and Rhonda was fast asleep, everyone prepared to settle down for the night.
John Dory: Alright, by tomorrow, we'll have Floyd back! We'll be able to hit the Perfect Family Harmony and everything will be back to normal!
Clay: Yay...
Branch rolled his eyes, something was telling him that his oldest brother was more interested in hitting the Perfect Family Harmony rather than the safety of his closest brother.
Spruce: Yeah, great, let's just focus on getting our brother back.
John Dory: Love that positive attitude, Spruce!
Spruce: It's Bruce, thank you very much!
While that was going on, Branch noticed Poppy sitting by herself near the campfire, she looked a little lost and sad. He sat down next to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
Branch: What's wrong?
Poppy: Huh?
Branch: You look sad, something bothering you?
Poppy sighed and looked down, drawing little pictures in the dirt.
Poppy: It's about Viva.
Branch: What about-oh yeah...that.
Poppy: Uh huh...I don't know why it's so hard for her to step out of her comfort zone. I don't even think she ever left since the Bergen attack when I was a baby.
Branch thought for a moment before placing his free hand on Poppy's shoulder.
Branch: Ring a bell?
Poppy: What do you mean?
Branch: Stepping out of a comfort zone? Not leaving any place for a long time? Constantly paranoid about Bergens?
Poppy: Oh...
Branch: Your words will get through to her, just like they did with me.
Poppy smiled a little but then frowned again as another thought approached her.
Poppy: I can't believe I never knew about her...
Branch: I can't believe I'm seeing my brothers again after over 20 years. None of them were on speaking terms.
Poppy: Oh...I guess I'm not the only one who knows what it's like to be apart for so long.
Branch: Pfft, you think you've had it rough?!
Poppy looked up with tears in her eyes and Branch suddenly remembered what she had gone through. The scar on her arm from that Bergen attack when she was a child, her abduction by the Bergens and the Rock Trolls, and to top it off, she just found out she has a sister who's biggest fear is stepping out of her walls.
Branch: Oh...right, sorry.
Poppy: It's fine...
Branch: ...To be honest, Poppy, I've been through a lot more.
Poppy: Yeah, losing your grandma and your brothers while you were still young...I can't imagine what it's like to lose someone you love.
Branch: ...Are you sure? What about...you-know-who?
Poppy: He doesn't count, sure I had a crush on him, but he never really cared about anyone but himself.
Branch started rubbing Poppy's back, she was always so happy and energetic that sometimes he forgot about what she had endured. She had been through so much in the last year. They had a lot more in common than he originally thought.
Poppy: You're lucky to have brothers who care, John Dory rounded them all up to save Floyd. My sister, on the other hand, she won't even step outside her home. She'd rather live in a box.
Branch: Poppy...look at me.
Poppy turned to Branch and he lightly cupped her face.
Branch: You're right, I do have a lot of brothers, but they seem to be picking up where they left off. They just keep fighting over one another. And...well, they don't even realize how much that affects me.
Poppy: Oh...I'm sorry.
Branch: Don't be, it has nothing to do with you.
Poppy: I know...
Branch kissed Poppy on the nose and held her hand. She started feeling better after that talk, and hopefully her sister would come to her senses and join them.
Branch: Hey...
Poppy: What?
Branch: You know I care about you, right?
Poppy: Yeah...?
Branch: We've been through a lot together, you and me. And I known there's more to come. But...well, I know you and I will pull through together. You're a strong girl, and you don't give up, which I really like about you. I guess what I'm trying to say is...I don't want those moments to end.
Branch then took one of Poppy's hands and took something out of his pocket. He placed a sparkling flowery ring on her middle finger, which confused Poppy for a moment. Suddenly, she realized what Branch was trying to say and put her free hand over her mouth.
Poppy: Oh Branch...
She enveloped him in a tight hug and buried her face in his chest.
Branch: I'm not very good with words, but...
Poppy: I knew what you were trying to say...I don't want those moments to end either.
Branch smiled and kissed the top of her head, holding her a little bit tighter than before. He began to caress her back lovingly.
Branch: Then we have many more to come, my love. Many, many more.
