Poppy and Branch both sat together stargazing in their favorite spot in the village, Branch kept his arm around Poppy and gently kissed her cheek.

Branch: You're special, Poppy, y'know?

Poppy blushed and scooched closer to Branch, her small hand intertwined with his.

Branch: Hey, what's on your mind, Poppifer? You've been so quiet lately.

Poppy: Huh? Oh, I was just thinking.

Branch: About what?

Poppy: About...what would happen if things turned out differently.

Branch was confused, but he knew Poppy well, usually when she's not saying anything or she's too quiet, she has something going on in her head.

Branch: What do you mean, Poppy? Tell me.

Poppy: Well...what if you and I never met? How would things be today?

Branch was intrigued, he never thought about what would've happened if they never met.

Branch: Well, I know one thing for sure...I wouldn't be the troll I am today. I would probably still be gray and hiding in my bunker away from the world and my brothers wouldn't be back in my life. Also...I wouldn't have found true love.

Poppy began to blush.

Poppy: I guess that's true for both of us, right?

Branch: Definitely.

Poppy: ...Actually, Branch...I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't met you.

Branch: Wait, what? But you haven't changed once since I met you.

Poppy: No, that's not what I mean...you helped me see the world a little differently, Branch. I used to think that life was one big party, but given what we've been through together and how many times you've had my back, I know that's not the case. Not everyone out there is willing to be your best friend, I learned that the hard way.

Branch nodded in agreement, gently stroking her hand with his thumb.

Branch: Well...you're not wrong, Poppy, but in a way, I beg to differ.

Poppy: What do you mean?

Branch: You're right, I do want you to be more realistic about the world, but with a Troll like you around, the world can change in ways you never imagine.

Poppy: How so?

Branch: Think about it, Poppy, everything that's happened this past year, it's because of you. If you weren't around, then we would still be hiding from the world.

Poppy: Huh...?

Branch: You shed light, Poppy, you give people hope. You saw the Bergens differently and showed them their own happiness, you were the only troll brave enough to travel to the other troll tribes and put in an end to division, and you were the one that said I needed to reconcile with my brothers. Thanks to you, the world's a better place.

Poppy: Oh Branch...

Poppy looked down at the ground, still processing Branch's words, he was really serious, and she never thought of it that way. Did she really have an impact that big? She really managed to change the world in just one year.

Branch: Here, I want you to have this.

Poppy looked up at Branch as he took an ornate box out of his hair and handed it to her. Poppy gasped softly and opened the box seeing a beautiful pendant made entirely out of silver.

Branch: That's my grandma's pendant, she gave it to me when I was little.

Poppy: Oh Branch, it's beautiful, but...why are you giving it to me?

Branch: Because you mean the world to me, Poppy, I've been storing this pendant since I lost her. She would want you to have it.

Poppy looked down at the pendant and put the box down down, pushing it away slightly.

Poppy: I can't accept this, Branch, it's a family heirloom, you should keep it.

Branch: I insist, Poppy, you're my family now, and I know you'll take good care of it. I wouldn't be giving this to you if I didn't care about you so much. I loved my grandma, and she would be happy to know that this pendant is with someone I truly love.

Branch put the pendant around Poppy's neck and her eyes welled up with tears as she held it in her hand.

Poppy: No one's ever given me something so precious, thank you, Branch...

Branch: You're welcome, anything to make you smile.

Poppy gave Branch a hug watching the stars in the sky, her head resting on his shoulder. As they continued to stargaze, Poppy let out a soft yawn, scooching closer to Branch and closing her eyes. Branch noticed that Poppy was on the brink of falling asleep, it was pretty late and she wasn't really a night owl.

Branch: Come on, Poppy, let's get you to bed.

Branch took Poppy in his arms and carried her bridal style to her pod, careful not to disturb her as she slept peacefully in the arms of her dear boyfriend, grateful to have him in her life so he would always have her back, no matter what happened.
