Trolls: Broppy One Shots

In Each Other's Company

Poppy and Branch sat under a tree watching the sun set and the sky get covered in glistening stars. Poppy rested her head on Branch's chest listening to his comforting heartbeat.

Thump...thump...thump...thump...

Poppy sighed and smiled a little, everything about Branch was amazing, and she wouldn't trade it for anything.

Poppy: ...Branch?

Branch: Yeah?

Poppy: I've been thinking...

Branch: About what?

Poppy: Us, our future, and...what could happen. If things work out between us...would this make you king? Am I even the right troll for you?

Branch: Poppy, what makes you say that?

Poppy: Well...we had some hard times...we fought, we split up a few times, I was afraid we were gonna lose our friendship when we discovered the other troll tribes.

Branch: Poppy, so what? We fought, yeah, but that's normal, everyone fights. I've even had fights with my brothers...a lot of fights.

Poppy: But not like ours. They'll always be your brothers no matter what, but one slip up between us, and we could end up seeing other people.

Branch's heart broke when he heard that from Poppy, he loved her deeply, and he knew no matter how many times they fought, nothing would change between them.

Poppy: I just don't want what we have to end. Like it did with Creek...

Branch: Poppy, come on, be rational, you never had a thing with Creek.

Poppy: I know, but...I admired him, he was just...so easy to fall for.

Branch: He betrayed us.

Poppy: Yeah, and I'm really upset about that. I guess it's just...since then, I've been having all these thoughts if...I look up to other trolls, they might turn their back on me just like he did.

Branch: Poppy, look at me.

Poppy looked up at Branch with a hint of uncertainty.

Branch: Creek is one troll, it's not all "You've seen one troll, you've seen them all." Let me ask you something, do you really think I would do the same thing to you? After everything we've been through together?

Poppy: Um...

Branch: Okay, did Creek have the guts to save you from the Bergens after you were taken?

Poppy: No, you did.

Branch: Did he ever think about the consequences for betraying us?

Poppy: No, he was just interested in surviving.

Branch: Did he have the heart to even try to apologize for what he did?

Poppy: We haven't seen him since then, who knows where he is now.

Branch: Look, my point is. Even if you did admire him at the time, he's a narcissist, Poppy.

Poppy: A what?

Branch: He's selfish, I'm sure while he was in the village, he was just looking for attention. And he didn't even care that the rest of us were being handed to the Bergens. Take a look at what you and I went through together. Do you remember Barb's world tour?

Poppy: How can I forget? You saved me when she was about to zap me. You took the blow, you...risked your life for me, you...you...

Poppy started to cry while she was talking. She hugged Branch tightly and sobbed into his shoulder.

Branch: Hey, hey, what's wrong?

Poppy: It's just...you've done so much for me, Branch, you really do care...!

Branch: Of course I do, Poppy, I love you.

Poppy: I-I love you too...you...you really came through for me in the end...you always protect me!

Branch: Poppy, you know I don't just protect you because you're a queen, right?

Poppy: Y-Yeah...you protect me because you have a good heart.

Branch: No, well yeah, I would do it for any other troll. But...I just really care about you the most, and I'm not just saying that.

Poppy: R-Really?

Branch: Really really, and Poppy, stop putting doubt in your head. I see a bright future for the both of us. It's a bumpy road, but it'll be worth it in the end, I promise.

Poppy: Okay, Branch, I'm trusting you...

Branch: That's all I need to hear.

Branch kissed Poppy's forehead lightly. When he was sure she wasn't looking, he looked into his pocket for a brief moment and took out a small black box before putting it back. He would fulfill their future soon, he just needed to wait for the right moment to do so.
