Darius pov

It's been two weeks since I agreed with a meeting with Alpha Gregor in his pack. I couldn't be less interested in him or anything he has say, but this has to be done to get the council out of my back.

I'm currently sitting in my car waiting for my annoying cousin to say goodbye to his girlfriend. We'll be gone for a maximum of two fucking days.

"Asher! Hurry up!" I yelled at him through mindlink.

I rolled my eyes as he rushed down the stairs and almost tripped. He got into the car and sat in the passenger seat and I glared at him.

"Sorry, sorry." Asher said. I growled and started the car. The sooner we can get this shit done the better.

The journey started calmly listening to music. Asher fell asleep and a small smile appeared on my face, he is like a little kid.

All too soon for me, we started to approach the border of the Red Claw Pack and I woke Asher up by poking him a little.

"Asher wake up, we're there."

He groaned and stretched. Then he rubbed his head.

"Are you okay?" I asked, glancing at him.

"Yeah, Grey just gives me a headache, he is pacing in my mind like he's nervous." Asher replied, continuing to rub his head.

"Hmmh, Kane is acting weird too. It just has to be because of this place." I answered and thought about the last time I visited here.

I was 17 at the time and I hated this place. I think Alpha Gregor tried to take advantage of my young age and make an alliance with me. But I never liked him. When my parents were alive he was always disrespectful to my mother and my father did nothing about it. Ever since then I've despised Alpha Gregor and the way he leads his pack isn't helping.

The guard waited for us and let us continue our journey, telling us that Alpha Gregor is waiting for us. I thanked him and we continued on our way. Soon a packhouse and a small group of people appeared ahead. I parked the car a short walk away.

"Are you ready?" I asked Asher who looked unwell.

"As ready as can be." He answered and got out of the car. I sighed and followed myself.

When we approached the packhouse, we heard a happy squeal and a young girl ran towards us. Soon she had thrown herself around Asher's neck, screaming "Mate!" Oh poor Asher and his sensitive hearing.

Asher looked, well, not the way you usually look when someone finds their soulmate. He's pale and doesn't even hold the girl. He looked at me in panic.

"Excuse me, who are you?" I asked bored.

The girl let go of Asher and looked at me with wide eyes and I didn't miss how her eyes traveled all over my body. I cleared my throat and finally she looked me in the eyes again. She was visibly startled when she saw my scarred face more closely but quickly covered it with a smile.

"Oh I'm sorry. My name is Tara, I'm Beta's daughter." She answered proudly and at the same time the others started walking towards us. Tara clung to Asher's side who looked distressed.

"Asher what's wrong?" I asked via mindlink.

"I don't know, this just doesn't feel right. What do I do!? I still want Victoria and Grey feels the same way." Asher replied. I wonder how his mate doesn't notice his anxiety.

"Calm down. Let's take care of the official things first and then think more about your situation." I said and he nodded. I turned my attention to the approaching Alpha.

"Alpha Darius! Nice to finally be able to arrange this meeting." Alpha Gregor said and shook my hand.

"Yes, and I would like to take care of it as quickly as possible so that I can return to my pack." I replied, almost smirked at Alpha Gregor's expression. He can't really expect me to stay here longer than I have to.

"Ah, as straightforward as your mother was. Let me introduce who is with me. This is my Luna Amy, Beta Logan and his mate and their daughter Tara, whom you already met.." Alpha Gregor continued to speak but I didn't focus on what he said. I just tried to keep myself calm even when he dared to mention my mom.

"Shall we go inside?" He asked suddenly. I don't know if he noticed I wasn't listening but I don't care. I just nodded and we left for the packhouse.

Luna Amy showed us to our room and we had some time to put our things in the rooms before dinner. I had to drive Tara away to give Asher a break. However, Asher didn't want to talk about his mate yet, so we headed straight for the dining room.

After coming down the stairs, my eyes were fixed on the door. I felt a strange pull towards it and remembered that it's not the first time. I walked over to the door and tried to open it, still locked. Asher looked at me strangely so I shook my head and we went to eat dinner.

The dinner was attended by Alpha, Luna, Beta and his family as well as a few of their close friends. I didn't pay attention to the conversation because my thoughts were on that locked door.

I remember how much that door interested me when I was seventeen. I was angry and rude and didn't care what Alpha thought of me so I tried to open the door. Alpha Gregor stopped me and led me away from the door.

"Doors are always locked for a good reason. You never know what might be hiding behind them." Alpha Gregor said then. It bothers me that after 11 years it still fascinates me. Even Kane wants to know what's behind that door.

After food and unnecessary chatter, Asher and I left and said we were going to our rooms to rest before the negotiations. The others stayed to hang out in the dining room.

We walked along the corridor and before the stairs my eyes turned to that damn door. I don't know what the hell is wrong with me but I need to find out what's in there. Fuck the consequences and Kane agreed with me. Asher looked after us in confusion and followed us.

I stood in front of the door staring at it, my heart pounding. For a long time it feels like my life had a purpose. To solve this mystery. Kane growled in agreement and said in my mind

"Break down that fucking door. Now."
